That’s just, like, your blood, man

Bleed red, white and blue on July 4, 9:15 a.m. to 3:45 p.m. at the Sheraton Keauhou Ballroom for the 2018 Elvis Sheppard Blood Drive. This “The Big Lebowski” themed event features door prizes, a silent auction, fun activities and more. Costumes are encouraged! Honor Sheppard’s life by donating blood and saving lives.

In addition, sign up for The Big Scrambowski 2018, a Kona Country Club golf tournament to benefit the Kona Hospital Foundation in Sheppard’s honor. Event registration starts at 7 a.m. July 7, with an 8 a.m. shotgun start. Entry fee $120 per person includes a round of golf, lunch, closest to the pin and prizes.

This drive helps bolster Hawaii’s blood, platelet and plasma supplies during the summer, when supply decreases and demand increases. The blood bank estimates about 200 blood donors are needed every day to help meet the needs of Hawaii’s patients. The inaugural Elvis Sheppard Blood Drive in July 2017 was the largest sponsored drive the Blood Bank of Hawaii has ever hosted in Kailua-Kona, filling more than 300 appointments, many of whom were first-time donors. The 2018 drive is expected to fill more than 500 appointments, and hopefully recruit reliable blood donors who will become regular, lifelong donors.

Sponsored by the EAS Little Lebowski Achievers Foundation and the Blood Bank of Hawaii.
