Rollover crash sends 1 to hospital

KAILUA-KONA — One person was taken to Kona Community Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries following a rollover crash Wednesday in downtown Kailua-Kona.

The incident occurred at 11:19 a.m., when a motorist driving an orange Toyota Tacoma pickup traveling north from Henry Street to Ane Keohokalole Highway was involved in a collision with an individual driving a Dodge Ram pickup, traveling west on Palani Road.

Hawaii Police Department Maj. Robert Wagner said the crash happened in the intersection and resulted with the Tacoma turned over on its driver side. It was unknown who is at fault at this time.

There was one occupant in the Tacoma and two occupants in the Dodge. Wagner said the front-seat passenger in the Dodge was transported to the hospital.

It took about an 90 minutes to clear the scene resulting in traffic backups.
