Volunteers helped library during important week

As the event volunteer coordinator for the Friends of Thelma Parker Library, I would like to give a huge mahalo to all the wonderful, hard-working volunteers who signed up and came to count patrons and used items or filled in empty spots during the semi-annual state library system’s Count Week of April 24- 28 at our library.

Many came nearly every day of that important week to either sit or roam. Up to 60 percent of our annual funding depends on how many people visit our library or call in, how many items are checked out and in, how many items are looked at, how many people come to our regular events, etc.

One long-time volunteer worked three days straight (around 11-12 hours) at helping us count and reminding the patrons not to re-shelve anything they looked at. That volunteer even stayed after we were closed, helping us take down and put all the signs and boxes away.

We, the regular volunteer staff and the library staff, are grateful for all that our special volunteers do to make our daily work a little easier.
