Basilisa Ocon

Basilisa Brillantes Ocon, 92, of Keaau, and formerly of Waipahu, Oahu; died March 11, 2018, in San Jose, Calif. Born on April 14, 1925, in the Philippines, she was a member of the Hilo Iloko Congregation of Jehovah Witnesses Waiakea.

Friends may call from 5-6 p.m. May 12 at Dodo Mortuary Chapel for a 6 p.m. memorial service. Casual attire. An urn burial will be at a later date.

She is survived by sons, Dave (Jean) Ocon of Seattle, Francisco (Jesusa) Ocon and Narciso (Maricel) Ocon of Keaau, James (Lyn) Ocon, Ruben (Racquel) Ocon, Gregorio (Mercedes) Ocon and Luis (Esther) Ocon, Jr. all from the Philippines; daughters, Fely (Claudio) Razo of Keaau, Angelina (Dome) Della of Kapolei, Lilia (Cris) Garcia and Anita Ocom of San Jose, Calif.; numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild; numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.

John Costa

John Montuewed Costa, 76, died at his home in Ahualoa. Born July 12, 1941, in Ookala, he was a retired supervisor with the Hawaii Carpenters Union, member of the American Racing Pidgeon Association and former member of the Model A Ford Club, Aloha Chapter.

Memorial services will be held on May 19 at Lady of Lourdes in Honokaa. Visitation will be 8-9:30 a..m. and Mass begins at 10 a.m. with lunch to follow. Online condolences may be posted on www.ballardfamilymortuaries.com.

He is survived by his wife, Blace (Blescilda Cuaresma); son Michael (Tracie) Costa of Ahualoa; Jason (Debra) Costa of Kamuela; daughters Teresa (Wendell) Kualaau of Kona; Belinda (Leroy) Victorino of Kona; Janice (Zach) Drawdy of Waikoloa; sisters, Shirley (David) Henderson of Louisiana; Rosie (Gary) Depontes of Kona; Joanne (Walter) David of Ocean View; 14 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren, one great-great grandchild; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts and uncles.

Robert Cordeiro

Robert “Bugsy” Paul Cordeiro, 85, of Ahualoa, died on April 23, 2018, at the Hilo Medical Center. He was born in Waikii and was a retired nursery supervisor with the former Hamakua Sugar Co., a maintenance worker for the former Waimea Country Club, grounds maintenance worker for the U.S. Postal Service in Honokaa, musician and a member of the Honokaa Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church.

Friends may call 8-9:30 a.m. May 12 at the Honokaa Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church, for a 10 a.m. Mass, followed by burial at the Honokaa Catholic Cemetery. Casual attire.

He is survived by his wife, Elizabeth Cordeiro of Ahualoa; two brothers-in-law; two sisters-in-law; numerous nieces, nephews, grand nieces and grand nephews.

Adam Thomas Dunaway Jr.

Adam Thomas Dunaway Jr, 77, died April 16, 2018, in Kailua-Kona. Born March 2, 1941, in Baltimore, he served in the Army and worked as a communications engineer at Stanford University.

Ruth Beveridge

Ruth Beveridge, 88, of Pepeekeo, died Friday, May 4, 2018, at Pohai Malama. Born in St. Louis, she was a retired cashier for a grocery store and Disneyland.

Private services will be held. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to the Panaewa Zoo.

She is survived by daugthers, Karol Shettlesworth of Long Beach, Calif., Debbie Beveridge of Arcadia, Calif., and Sharon Robinson of Santa Clarita, Calif.; son, Mark (Faye) Beveridge of Pepeekeo; eight grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews.
