Third Thursday Potluck to focus on agroforestry

Kalani Souza and Craig Elevitch will present “Agroforestry: The Relational Doctrine” at the monthly potluck this Thursday in the large conference room at NHERC in Honokaa. Dinner and live music begin at 6 p.m., followed by the presentation at 6:45 p.m.

Souza is the founding director of the Olohana Foundation, a Big Island nonprofit that focuses on building community capacity, cohesiveness, resilience and emergency preparedness around food, energy, water and knowledge systems. Elevitch is an author and longtime educator in agroforestry and sustainable human agroecosystems. They will share a “big picture” look at agroforestry that includes the relationship between neighbors and community as well as plants, trees and the environment.

Attendees are asked to bring their own plate, eating utensils and beverage.
