Business Action Day June 14
The Department of Commerce and Consumer Affairs (DCCA) will host a “Business Action Center Day” from 9:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. June 14 at the County of Hawaii, West Hawaii Civic Center, Department of Research and Development office located on the second floor of Building C just above the DMV.
Walk-ins and appointments are welcome. For an appointment, call 323-4700. Research &Development staff are available for primary business consultations and the DCCA will be available to assist with Hawaii state business registrations, general excise tax applications, federal employer identification numbers (FEIN) and other business filings.
Waikoloa health center welcomes new doctor, PA
West Hawaii Community Health Center is hosting an open house from 5-6:30 p.m. June 8 at the center, 68-1845 Waikoloa Road, Suite 207.
The gathering will welcome a new doctor and physician assistant to the team as well as showcase the facility’s latest remodeling.
Dr. Margaret “Peggy” A. Irish and Christopher Piel have joined the West Hawaii Community Health Center in Waikoloa Village.
Irish is a doctor of osteopathy with a specialty in family medicine and training in physical medicine and rehabilitation. Piel has a master of science in physician associate studies from the Yale School of Medicine and completed an intern rotation at West Hawaii Community Health Center.

Poi Dog Deli opens
Poi Dog Deli recently opened in Kailua-Kona.
Featuring beer, sandwich specials and a to-go menu, the shop is located at 75-1022 Henry Street No. 3, across from Safeway.
It’s open 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. but closed on Tuesdays.

New golf club name official
Makani Golf Club (formerly known as Big Island Country Club) unveiled its new name, logo, and course details for the first time after more than six months of upgrades and improvements.

No-cost workshop May 30
The West Hawaii Small Business Development Center will be offering a workshop, “Government Contracting 101” from 9-11:30 a.m. May 30 (registration 8:30 a.m.), at Hale Iako, 73-970 Makako Bay Dr., Kailua-Kona, on the NELHA (OTEC) campus.
Learn how the government buys goods and services, how to become registered on the federal and state levels, and how to find opportunities as a prime and/or subcontractor. Also covered, the benefits and requirements for small business participation as a woman, veteran, and/or minority.
