Hideo Nagai
Hideo Nagai, 87, of Hilo, died May 9, 2018, at Yukio Okutsu State Veterans Home in Hilo. Born in Papaikou, he was a retired United States Marine Corps First Lieutenant, also a retired accountant from James Yoshiyama CPA Inc., Vietnam War veteran and member of the USMC Combined Action Program Luc-Luong Hon-Hop and Taishoji Soto Mission.
Friends may call at 9 a.m. June 1 at Dodo Mortuary chapel in Hilo for a 10 a.m. service. Burial follows at noon at Hawaii Veterans Cemetery No. 2. Family requests casual attire be worn.
He is survived by sons, Michael (Sylvia) Nagai and Dennis (Maria) Nagai of Hilo; brother, Kenneth Nagai of Honolulu; sisters, Sayoko (Yoshiki) Murai of Honolulu, Shizuho (Hiroshi) Ota and Marian (Raymond) Kuruhara of Hilo, Vivian Prosise of Gardena, Calif., Arleen (Don) Gerbig of Lahaina, Maui; three grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Leo Campbell Sr.
Leo Palmer Kahilu Campbell Sr., 78, of Kalapana, died May 16, 2018, in Hilo. Born in Hilo, he worked for Hawaiian Electric Company in Honolulu, was a U.S. Army veteran and owner of P.K. Hauling and Daily Bread.
A celebration of life will be held on 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. June 2 at Onekahakaha Beach Park Pavilion Nos. 2 and 3 in Hilo. Family requests casual attire.
He is survived by wife, Marcelina Campbell of Kalapana; sons, Leo (Bernadette) Campbell Jr. of Eden Roc, Lorne (Jane) Campbell of Volcano and Leven Campbell of Fern Forest; daughters, Libby-Ann (Van) Kahamoku and Lynn-Dale AhYo of Mountain View, Loddie-Mae Campbell of Kona and Leslie (Stafford) Campbell of Hilo; sister, Anna (Robert) Wallwork of California; brothers, Robert (Sue) Campbell of California and Wayne (Mae) Campbell of Hilo; 33 grandchildren; 63 great-grandchildren; two great-great grandchildren; godsons; numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.

Julia Maldonado
Julia “The Pasteles Lady” Maldonado, 83, of Keaau died May 6, 2018, at Hilo Medical Center. Born in North Kona, she was a former candy maker at the Mauna Loa Macadamia Nut Factory, worked at Miko Meats, member of Connect Point Church and Golden Eagles at Glad Tidings Church.
Friends may call 9-11 a.m. June 2 at Dodo Mortuary chapel; funeral service at 11. Burial to follow at Homelani Memorial Park. Casual attire requested.

Royce Takeo Ebesu, Jr., 61, of Hilo, died May 11, 2018, at his home. Born in Lihue, Kauai, he was an insurance agent of Pyramid Insurance, owner of Kozmic Kones, Body Therapy in Hilo and Lihue, a University of Hawaii at Hilo Baseball Clinician, member of the Vulcan Booster Club, Kal’s Pals, Nobu Yamauchi RBI, Cougar Baseball, Crash International and Total Rec’s Golf Club.
Visitation will be held on June 3 at the Honpa Hongwanji Hilo Betsuin Sangha Hall (398 Kilauea Avenue) in Hilo starting at 1 p.m.; a celebration of life will begin at 2:30 p.m. Casual attire is requested. No flowers or Koden (monetary offerings).

James “Jimmy” Yasunori Matsuda, 92, of Papaikou, died Jan. 21, 2018, at Yukio Okutsu State Veterans Home in Hilo. Born in Keei, Kona, he was a retired auto mechanic for the former Hilo Motors, U.S. Army World War II veteran and member of Papaikou Hongwanji Mission.
Friends may call at 3 p.m. June 3 at Dodo Mortuary chapel in Hilo for a 4 p.m. service. The family requests casual attire be worn and no monetary gifts or flowers.
He is survived by wife, Tomoko Matsuda of Papaikou; sons, Wesley (Trisia Uchida) Matsuda of Papaikou, Wayne (Lenora) Matsuda of Hilo; daughter, Colleen Aina of Hilo; nephew, Stephan Matsuda of Los Angeles; grandson, Shannon (Thao) Oyama of Mililani, Oahu; and three great-grandchildren.

Henry “Hank” “Skip” Louis Peters, Jr., 69, of Kailua-Kona, died May 1, 2018, at Kona Community Hospital. Born Oct. 15, 1948, in Albany, New York, he was an interpretive guide for Hawaii Forest &Trail, a former announcer for Paradise Roller Girls in Hilo, a radio announcer in Connecticut, and former member of Halau Kaeaikahelelani.
A celebration of life will be held at 10:30 a.m. June 3 at Lanakila Congregational Church in Honalo. The family requests casual attire.
He is survived by wife, Cheryl Sugiki of Kailua-Kona; son, Justin Peters of Holualoa; daughter, Heather (Jerry) Gant of Ft. Lee, Virginia; mother, Marian Peters of Naples, Florida; sister, Paula Peters Keegan of Oakville, Connecticut; step-daughter, Lee Ann (Dominic) Agabin of Wailuki, Maui; four grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.
