KAILUA-KONA — The search continues for a 68-year-old Captain Cook woman who was reported missing May 13.
Deborah “Debby” Wiley, who suffers from Alzheimer’s disease, was last seen by her husband of 40 years, Jim Wiley around 5 p.m. on May in the driveway of their home near Hind Road in Captain Cook.
There have been no confirmed sightings of the woman since May 16. However, Jim Wiley said he collected some bottles from a campsite in the vicinity of Kaya’s cafe in Honalo after a friend reported possibly seeing Mrs. Wiley late Tuesday afternoon.
Hawaii Police Department Detective David Matsushima said police tested the items but were unable to find any usable finger prints on the items.
Mrs. Wiley is in need of medication. She is described as being 5 feet, 3 inches tall, weighing 140 pounds with brown hair and brown eyes. She was last seen wearing a dark blue-colored long-sleeved shirt, blue jeans and grayish-white tennis shoes, according to police.
Jim Wiley said that while the search effort has been scaled back, the family will not give up on finding Mrs. Wiley.
“Our family has really had our hearts warm from the turnout and the support in the search for Debby,” he said. “We haven’t found her yet, but we have found community.”
