KAILUA-KONA — A Captain Cook man is facing abuse of family charges in connection to a domestic violence incident last week, police confirmed Tuesday.

Matthew M. Santos, 33, was arrested Sunday morning by Hawaii Police Department officers on suspicion of abuse of a family or household member for an incident that was reported on Friday.

On Monday, detectives with the Area II Juvenile Aid Section charged Santos with felony abuse of family or household member, second-degree assault and first-degree terroristic threatening.

Santos was later released from police custody after posting $6,000 bail. He is scheduled to appear in Kona Family Court on July 11.
