Dionisio Pacheco

Dionisio “Danny” Toledo Pacheco, 92, of Hilo died June 2, 2018, at the Hawaii Care Choices Pohai Malama Care Center. He was born in Kekaha, Kauai.

Friends may call 9-10 a.m. June 21 at the Dodo Mortuary chapel for a 10 a.m. funeral service, followed by burial at the Alae Cemetery. Casual attire.

He is survived by several brothers and sisters; nieces and nephews.

Lillian Kang

Lillian Soon Yil Kang, 95, of Kailua-Kona, and formerly of Honolulu, died June 13, 2018, at her residence. Born Nov. 23, 1922 in Honolulu, she was a homemaker, caregiver, volunteer for many community organizations, a world traveler and a former tai chi instructor.

Private service to be held at a later date. Family requests no flowers and no monetary gifts.

She is survived by daughters, Karen Lewis of Arizona, Kathleen Kang-Heric of Washington, Louise (Eduard) Muss of Germany; sons, Peter (Christine) Kang, Jr. of Arizona, John (Cheryle) Kang of Kailua-Kona; 10 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren, four great-great-grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews.

Theron Leland

Theron Gerard Leland, 86, died May 19, 2018, in Kailua-Kona. Born March 11, 1932, in Bar Harbor, Maine, he served in the Air Force during the Korean War, worked in communications for the Anchorage Telephone Utility and later moved to Kailua-Kona where he owned and operated Sunrise Pool Service.

He is preceded in death by his wife, Sonja.

Jerry is survived by son, Terry Leland of Kailua-Kona; daughters, Debra Dunagan of Kailua-Kona and Tricia Matyas of Las Vegas; and three grandchildren.

Alexander Durante

Alexander Durante, 92 of Hilo, died June 5, 2018. Born on July 31, 1925, he was a retired Merchant Marine and formally employed by the United States Navy at the Naval Air Station Pearl Harbor during World War II. He was also a former resident of Holiday Retirement Home in Hawaii Kai on Oahu.

Memorial service will be from 4-7 p.m. July 14 at Ballard Family Moanalua Mortuary on Oahu.

He is survived by sister, Elizabeth P. Kaiama of Waikoloa. Numerous nieces; nephews, grand nieces and nephews and great-grand nieces and nephews.

Leroy Lewi

Mr. Leroy Lihau Lewi, 60, of Kamuela, died April 26, 2018, at Kona Community Hospital. Born May 12, 1957, in Hamakua, he was a groundskeeper and banquet porter at the former Kona Surf Resort. He was a mechanic helper at the Kona Country Club and a meat cutter for Island Pork Produce.

Visitation will be at 10 a.m. June 24 at the Kona Palisades recreation center for an 11 a.m. celebration of life. The family requests casual attire and flowers are welcome.

He is survived by his wife, Lucille Lewi of Kailua-Kona; son, Kaleo (Aloha) of Holualoa; daughters, Lushanya (Dennis) Martin of Kailua-Kona, Lacey (Roman) Rodrigues of Las Vegas, Lennell Lewi of Kailua-Kona; brother, Karl Lewi of Nanakuli, Oahu; sister, Rebecca Zettler of Nanakuli, Oahu; four grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

Martha Chang

Martha Betsy Chang, 88, of Halaula, died April 16, 2018, at her residence. Born Feb. 23, 1930, in Waimea, she was a librarian at the Kohala Library and was a telephone operator for Hawaiian Telephone Company. She was a member of Kohala Senior Citizens Group and Landmark Baptist Church.

A celebration of life will be at 10 a.m. June 23 at Landmark Baptist Church, 54-3666 Akoni Pule Highway in Kapaau. The family requests casual attire.

She is survived by her sons, Leslie Chang of Haiku, Maui and Joseph Chang, Jr. of Mount Vernon, Wash.; daughter, Jocelyn Chang of Kohala; one grandchild; numerous nieces and nephews.
