Firefighters douse structure fire in Pahoa

KAILUA-KONA — Fire officials are investigating the cause of a Thursday morning fire that destroyed a home in Pahoa.

Firefighters responded at 9:05 a.m. to 16-1994 King Kamehameha Boulevard to find a previously burned single-story home on fire, according to the Hawaii Fire Department. Flames had consumed about 25 percent of the structure by the time firefighters and equipment arrived at the scene at 9:16 a.m.

The fire department said there were no occupants at the scene when they arrived and no other homes in the area were threatened. The fire was extinguished at 9:45 a.m.
