Candy Barboza

Candy Ellen Barboza, 67, of Kealakekua, died June 15, 2018 in Monterey, Calif., due to heart failure, surrounded by loved ones. Born May 31, 1951, in Monterey, Calif, she loved her family, friends, flowers, jewelry, art, the ocean and music. Her love of the islands could be seen with a flower in her hair every day and a warm greeting of aloha.

The family will be hosting a celebration of life at 1 p.m. Aug. 3 at Honaunau Rodeo grounds.

She is survived by mother, Constance Ziegenbein; brothers, Richard and Robert Griggs; four children, Leaves Garnett-Maxwell, Holli Littell, Makani Barboza and Ku’I Barboza; her true love, Kawika Del Rosario and his family, Jaime, Dominic and Lovia Del Rosario; 10 grandchildren; one great-grandson; and many dear and lifelong friends.

Kazuo Yanagiha

Kazuo Yanagihara, 98, of Hilo, died May 26, 2018, in the Yukio Okutsu State Veterans Home in Hilo. Born Feb. 1, 1920, in Hilo, he was the co-owner of Nick’s Garage, Inc. in Hilo and a World War II veteran serving in the U.S. Army.

Services held. No flowers or koden.

He is survived by wife, Kinuko “Kay” Yanagihara of Hilo; son, Casey (Jodie) Yanagihara of Hilo; brothers, Myron Yanagihara of Honolulu and Noboru Yanagihara of Hilo; sister, Dora Akina of Honolulu; one sister-in-law; numerous nephews, nieces and cousins.

Jane Harvill

Jane Anderson Harvill, 66, of Honaunau, died June 24, 2018, at the Kona Community Hospital. Born on Feb. 20 1952, in Berkeley, Calif., she was a homemaker and a member of the Sidecar family.

Private services will be held.

She is survived by her husband, Roger Harvill of Honaunau; daughter, Melissa Mixon of Kealakekua.

Jenila Aisen

Jenila Aisen, 58, of Hilo, died June 28, 2018, at Pohai Malama Care Center. She was Dec. 20, 1959, in Mejit, Marshall Island.

Jenila is survived by spouse, Leit Aisen; sons, Jienty (Meria) Aisen, Nesa (Honey) Aisen, and Lasen (Helintha) Aisen of Marshall Island, Silon (Missy) Aisen of Colorado; daughters, Wutko Aisen of Hilo, Moana (Banton) Nathan of California, Naomi (Anta) Aine of Washington and Grace (Jobane) Aisen of Marshall Island; 15 grandchildren and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.

Shizue Nakamura

Shizue Nakamura, 95, of Hilo died June 7, 2018, at the Hilo Medical Center. Born in Hilo, she was a retired machine operator for the former Miko Meat Company in Hilo, member of Hilo Hooganji Mission and Piihonua Community Association.

Friends may call 3 p.m. July 11 at Dodo Mortuary Chapel for a 5 p.m. memorial service. Casual attire.

She is survived by sons, Ronald (Ruth) Nakamura of Los Angeles, Lawrence (Jane) Nakamura of Hilo; daughters, Carol (Byron) Toma of Hilo, Dianne (Raymond) Kawamoto of Hilo, Gail (Leslie) Kumiji of Hilo, Joanne Nagamine of Hilo; brothers, Thomas (Shinako) Shindo of Hilo, Wallace (Betty) Shindo of Los Angeles; six sisters-in-law; 18 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren, one great-great-grandchild, numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

Mary McRae

Mary Alice McRae, 66, died July 2, 2018, at Pohai Malama in Hilo. Born in 1951 in Sanford, N.C., she was a retired educator and very active in yoga and Zumba.
