Terry Alicuben

Terry Colin Alicuben, 63, of Pahoa died July 3, 2018, in Waipahu, Oahu. Born in Hanapepe, he was retired from the County of Hawaii, Department of Parks and Recreation and a member of the Hilo Coast United Church of Christ.

Friends may call 1-2 p.m. July 16 at Dodo Mortuary chapel; celebration of life will begin at 2. Casual attire.

He is survived by son, Jacob (Monica) Alicuben of Yokosuka, Japan; daughters, Mandy Alicuben of Ewa Beach, Oahu, Megan (Nick) Sakamoto of Waipahu, Oahu, Lea (Ivan) Gushiken of Pahoa; father, Jacky Alicuben of Hilo; brother, Nolan (Lori) Alicuben of Hilo; sisters, Jacklyn (Rudy) Spencer of Hilo, Kelley (Ronne) Ishii of Keaau; 12 grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts and uncles.

Michael Moniz Sr.

Michael G. Moniz Sr., 75, of Mountain View and formerly of Las Vegas, died June 9, 2018, at his residence. Born in Hilo, he was a retired ramp supervisor for the former Continental Airlines and member of the former Cats Softball Club.

Friends may call 5-6 p.m. July 18 at Dodo Mortuary chapel; memorial service at 6. Casual attire.

He is survived by daughters, Annamarie Moniz of Hilo, Arnette (Kimo) M. Soares of Las Vegas; son, Michael (Malia) Moniz Jr. of Mountain View; son-in-law, Brian Cook of Las Vegas; father, James Sloan of Keaau; brothers, Rennie (Diane) Moniz of San Bruno, California, Charles (Lisa) Sloan of Kurtistown, Jonathan Sloan of Keaau; sister, Michelle (Al) Meeks of Georgia; nine grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews.

Remegio Desamito

Remegio G. Desamito, 71, of Keaau, died June 18, 2018, at Hilo Medical Center. Born Aug. 9, 1946, in Pangasinan, Philippines, he was a retired school bus driver for Clark County School District, a U.S. Army Vietnam War veteran, and member of the St. Joseph Catholic Church in Hilo.

Friends may call July 19 at Dodo Mortuary chapel; visitation at 5 p.m. and wake service at 6 p.m. Friends may also call on July 20 at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Hilo; visitation at 8:30 a.m.; Mass at 10:30 a.m. Casual attire and flowers are welcomed. Burial to follow at East Hawaii Veterans Cemetery No. 2.

He is survived by wife, Editha de Leon Duyao Desamito of Keaau; sons, Reggie Desamito of Dutch Harbor, Alaska, Eric Desamito of Keaau and Marc Desamito of Hilo; brother, Ceasar (Erlinda) Desamito of Las Vegas, Nevada; sister, Jayne Desamito of Molokai; sister in-law, Nora Duyao of Keaau; brothers-in-law, John (Andrea) Duyao and Marcio Duyao of Keaau; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, uncles and aunts.

David Hudson

David “Dave” Hudson, 76, of Hilo died June 19, 2018, at his home. Born in 1942 in Virginia, he was a financial writer, a substitute teacher in Hawaii public schools, and a gold life member in the American Contract Bridge League.

Services were held.

He is survived by wife, Pamela Hudson of Hilo; step-son Ben Miller of Fort Collins, Colorado; and brother Robert (Dori) Hudson of St. Louis.
