Youth With a Mission gets warm welcome in Bougainville

Bougainville president John Momis, alongside first lady Elizabeth Momis, toured the Kona-based YWAM Liberty in Buka, Papua New Guinea (PNG), in advance of the ship’s crew delivering critical supplies to families in the area.

“It is a rare privilege to come onboard, and to witness what it is that we are called upon to do: to transform lives, to transform the society in which we find ourselves,” president Momis said.

President Momis had been monitoring YWAM Ships’ activities for years in other provinces around PNG and is very pleased that the vessel finally reached Bougainville. He also committed to ensure YWAM Ships Kona’s six months in Bougainville would make a difference and pledged to work closely together.

“We are very happy about this [model] of what we need to [implement] across our land. Thinking outside the box like this brings peace, justice and human solidarity,” Momis explained.

Over the next six months, most of the expected 300 volunteers will come from Hawaii.
