Hundreds of marijuana plants discovered in Kona Palisades home

KAILUA-KONA — A search warrant at a home in the Kona Palisades yielded hundreds of marijuana plants, officials confirmed Wednesday.

According to Hawaii Police, the Kona Vice Section served the warrant on the residence at the 73-1000 block of Kaiminani Drive at 11:05 a.m. on Monday. During the search, officers found 368 marijuana plants, 30 pounds of dried marijuana, a digital scale, Ziploc bags with marijuana inside and other items.

Police also recovered $9,000 in cash and an unregistered firearm.

A 48-year-old man who resides in the Palisades home was initially arrested on a charge of first-degree commercial promotion of marijuana however, he was released pending further investigation.
