Emiko Wakayama
Emiko “Emi” Wakayama, 85, of Waimea, died July 29, 2018, at home. Born in Kurtistown, she was a seamstress, homemaker, volunteer at the gift shop at North Hawaii Community Hospital, committee member of the Waimea Heritage Cherry Blossom Festival, performed Japanese tea ceremony and member of Kamuela Hongwanji Mission, Kamuela Japanese Civic Association and Kamuela Senior Citizens.
Private services were held. Family requests no monetary gifts or flowers.
She is survived by son, Curtis Wakayama of Waimea; brother, Mareo Takajo of Hilo; sisters, Aiko Sadahira, Kimie Ching of Hilo, Patricia Hamada of Escondido, Calif.,; caregiver, Mina Corpuz of Waikoloa; in-laws, numerous nieces and nephews.

James McBrien
Mr. James “Bud” William McBrien, 70, of Kailua-Kona, died Aug. 3, 2018, at his residence. Born April 26, 1948, in Hilo, he was a property resident manager and a Friend of Bill W.
A memorial service will begin at 9 a.m. Aug. 12 at Kahaluu Beach Park, big pavilion in Kahaluu.
He is survived by his wife, Teena McBrien of Kailua-Kona; sons, Eric (Monica) DeVine of Maui, Andy (Audrey Tomlinson) DeVine of Kirkland, Wash., Adam (Alena) DeVine of Snohomish, Wash., Neil (Maureen) DeVine of Marysville, Wash.; hanai daughter, Michelle Decaire of Kirkland, Wash.; stepsister, Sue Kekahuna of Hilo; 10 grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephew.
