Ethel Mahi

Ethel Leilani Mahi, 84, of Waikoloa, died July 21, 2018, at Hilo Medical Center. Born on July 29, 1933, in Kukaiau, she was a homemaker, retired from Mauna Kea Beach Hotel, a member of the International Longshore and Warehouse Union (ILWU) and also a member of Hawaiian Civic Club Bowling Team.

Friends may call 4-5 p.m. Aug. 18 at Dodo Mortuary Chapel for a 5 p.m. celebration of life. Casual attire. Flowers and lei are welcomed.

She is survived by sons, Richard Mahi, Jr. and Marshall Mahi of Honolulu, John Mahi of Washington, D.C., Kelii (Lovey) Mahi of Keaau and Ricky (Karen) Mahi of Kapaau, Kohala; daughters, Lani Anne Ferreira and Terry-Ellen (Alvin) De Vera of Honokaa, Lani (Gordon) Dano of Honolulu, Gayle Gacayan and Candace (Raymond) Alnas of Waikoloa and Kuulei Mahi of Washington, D.C.; brother, Richard (Aiko) Mahuna of Kaneohe; sisters, Margaret Ynigues of Paauilo, Nora Thomason of California and Elizabeth Lee Loy of Hilo; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews.

Henrietta Seto

Henrietta Marie Seto, 85, of Hilo, died Aug. 3, 2018, at home. She was born in Hilo and was a retired billing clerk with the former Hawaiian Telephone Co., later did management and bookkeeping for the rental holdings of Seto &Associates, a real estate acquisition and development partnership, and was a member of the St. Joseph Catholic Church.

Friends may call 9-10 a.m. Aug. 15 at the St. Joseph Catholic Church, where a Mass will be held at 10:30 a.m., followed by burial at the Hawaii Veterans Cemetery No.2. Casual attire.

She is survived by her son, Michael H. Seto of Hilo; daughter, Cathi L. Seto of Honolulu; brothers, David (Demetra) Martins of Hilo and Donald Martins of Hilo; sisters, Jeanette Carreira of Honomu, Vivian Rice of Loving, Texas and Susan (Alvin) Medeiros of Hilo; two grandsons, one great-grandson, and numerous nieces and nephews. Harue Araki

Harue Araki, 91, of Paauilo, died July 14, 2018, at the Kohala Hospital. She was born in Mountain View and was a retired meat clerk with the former Sure Save Supermarket in Kamuela, and a member of the Paauilo Hongwanji Mission and the Kapahu Kumiai.

Private services were held. No koden (monetary donations).

She is survived by her son, George (Doris) Araki of Hakalau; three sisters-in-law; a brother-in-law; two grandchildren, one great-grandson, numerous nieces and nephews. Arrangements by Dodo Mortuary, Inc. – Hilo.

Elsie Correa

Elsie Sidiaren Correa, 81, of Hilo died July 15, 2018, at the Hilo Medical Center. Born in Pepeekeo, she was the daughter of the late Flavian and Veneranda Sidiaren, co-founder of the Historic Kayumangi of Honomu, where her work experience began. She was also a retired waitress at Ken’s House of Pancakes, formerly employed at Hilo Drugs, Dick’s Coffee House, Jimmy’s Drive Inn and Sumida Restaurant and a member of the St. Joseph Catholic Church.

Friends may call 9–10 a.m. Aug. 16 at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Hilo; funeral Mass at 10:30. Burial to follow at Hawaii Veterans Cemetery No. 2. Casual attire.

Survived by brothers, Garlan D. Saliscen-Sidiaren of Honomu, Harold (Georgianne) Sidiaren of Honolulu; sisters, Elizabeth (Charles) Apuan of Salinas, California, Rose Marie (Ambrosio) Callo of Hilo; god son, Gerard Callo of Hilo; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
