KAILUA-KONA — Motorists should expect delays this week on Mamalahoa Highway in Ka‘u as the state Department of Transportation paves a section of roadway near Manuka.

Alternating single-lane closures will be in effect from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. Today through Thursday between mile markers 79 and 81 of the highway, also known as Route 11, according to the department.

Alternating single-lane closures are also planned on Kohala Mountain Road, also known as Route 250, for guardrail work between mile markers 7.2 and 9.2. Traffic will be impacted from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. Today through Thursday.

In Hilo, an alternating single-lane closure remains in effect on Bayfront Highway, also known as Route 19, for paving work between mile markers 2 and 10 in the vicinity of Wailuku Bridge to Waiaama Stream Bridge. Work is scheduled from 6 a.m. to 7 p.m. through Thursday.

In Puna, an alternating single-lane closure is planned on Mamalahoa Highway, also known as Route 11, between mile markers 6 and 9 in the vicinity of Keaau Bypass Road intersection to Kamehameha Schools for pavement marking. The closure will be in effect from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m.

All projects are weather permitting.

In observance of Statehood Day, there will be no roadwork scheduled on Friday.
