Residents are invited to attend a community meeting to discuss various options to be considered to improve transportation in, out and through Waimea town. It will be held from 5:30-7:30 p.m. Aug. 23 at Waimea School Cafeteria

The State of Hawaii Department of Transportation (DOT) is initiating the Waimea Regional Safety Study to identify an alternate roadway for travelling through and around Waimea. The purpose of the study is to identify a feasible bypass that would improve safety and provide overall benefits to the community. This replaces work DOT previously referred to as the Kawaihae Bypass.

The meeting has been coordinated by the planning firm of SSFM International on behalf of DOT.
