KAILUA-KONA — Fire officials are investigating the cause of a Monday morning structure fire in Puna.

Responding to the 9:05 a.m. alarm, firefighters arrived about 10 minutes later to find the bottom floor of a two-story structure burning at the corner of Paradise Drive and Beach Road in the Hawaiian Paradise Park subdivision of Puna, according to the Hawaii Fire Department. The fire appeared to be confined to a workshop and garage area.

No one was home at the time the fire was reported. No injuries were reported.

The fire was declared out at 9:26 a.m. Damage to the structure was estimated at $40,000.
