Dietrich Varez

Dietrich Varez, 79, of Glenwood, died Aug. 14, 2018, at the Yukio Okutsu State Veterans Home. Born in Berlin, Germany, he was the owner of Volcano Prints, aloha shirt designer for Ryen Spooner, multi-media artist, member of the Volcano Art Center and a veteran and second lieutenant with the U.S. Army.

Private services will be held at a later date.

He is survived by wife, Linda Varez of Glenwood; sons Dietrich (Heather) Danneberg Varez of Washington; four grandchildren.

Kinohi Kam

Infant Kinohi Hāloamaikalani Nobuyuki Kam, 2 days, died at home.

A private service is to held at a later date.

He is survived by parents, Benson Kaleo and Alicia Ilikea Kam; brothers, Līloa and Nāhana Kam; grandparents Kenneth N.H. Kam, Sr. all of Kailua-Kona, Arno (Lois) Denzler of Ocean View, Mary (Manuel) Kiaha of Kealakekua; great-grandparents, Eleonore Yeto of Ocean View, Toshiyuki and Marylou Nakao of Kailua-Kona, numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.

Kamea Ma’alea

Kamea Ka’ilikea Ma’alea, 5, of Volcano, died Aug. 4, 2018, at Kapiolani Medical Center. She was born on May 22, 2013, on Maui.

Friends may call from 11:30 a.m. Sept. 1 at New Hope Christian Fellowship in Volcano for a noon service.

She is survived by her mother, Hailey O’Conner of Volcano; father, Kingston Ma’alea of Maui; sister, Kuniwai Ma’alea of Volcano; grandparents, Sharon Elliott of Volcano, Robert O’Conner of Volcano, Brian Ma’alea of Maui, Michelle Ma’alea of California. Numerous uncles, aunts and cousins.

Roger Bagarino

Mr. Roger Carpio Bagarino, 81, of Kamuela, died Aug. 11, 2018, at Hale Ho’ola Hamakua. Born in Paoay, Ilocos Norte, Philippines on Oct. 16, 1936, he was a retired golf pro shop attendant at the Mauna Kea Beach Hotel and an architect. He was a member of Annunciation Catholic Church in Waimea.

Visitation will be 9 a.m. Sept. 1 at the Annunciation Catholic Church in Waimea for a 10 a.m. Mass. Family requests casual attire and flowers are welcome.

He is survived by his daughters, Shirley Carpio of Kamuela, Gina Bagarino of Kailua-Kona and Mildred Bagarino of Waikoloa; brothers, Ruben (Gloria) Bagarino of Harbor City, Calif. and Romeo (Baby) Bagarino of Manila, Philippines; eight grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; three hanai great-grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
