This fall, Prince Dance Institute (PDI) is offering more than 25 performing arts classes at Kahilu Theatre and the Honokaa Hongwanji Mission.

Enrollment is now open and the semester begins Wednesday and runs weekly through Dec. 21. Represented in the offerings are the disciplines of dance, theatre, music and acrobatics, with classes available for all ages and skill levels. Performance opportunities are available for interested students.

There will be an open house from 4:30-6:30 p.m. Sept. 4 at Kahilu Theatre to answer questions, meet the teachers, help with registration and see the space where the classes take place. Open house attendees are asked to please enter through the loading dock door at the back of the theatre.

“We are really looking forward to the upcoming semester. After the performances of our original show, ‘Future Voices,’ last spring—and its success—there is a new level of energy and enthusiasm around the school,” Angel Prince, Prince Dance Institute director, said in a press release. “In addition to our long-standing favorites at Kahilu Theatre, we’ve added several new classes like jazz, a daytime class for homeschoolers in musical theatre, rhythmic gymnastics and a performance troupe for students who love to perform.

“I am also thrilled that we are offering classes at Honokaa Hongwanji Mission again. It’s going to be a jam-packed semester with great classes, incredible instructors and all genres of the performing arts.”

Prince Dance Institute is also welcoming Noelani Anderson to its staff. Anderson has been a student, a professional performer and teacher for Prince Dance Institute and now takes on a leadership role in the faculty. Born and raised on Hawaii Island, Anderson graduated from Hawaii Preparatory Academy and went on to study theatre and peace studies at the collegiate level on the mainland.

Classes at Kahilu Theatre are conducted on the Kahilu Theatre main stage and in the Mike Luce Studio and are held Monday through Thursday between 1:30-8 p.m. Entry is through the loading dock door.
