Michael Rivera

Michael Edward Rivera, 74, of Pahoa, died Aug. 26, 2018, at the Hilo Medical Center. He was born in Honolulu, and retired as a truck driver with the City and County of Honolulu and was a member of the National Rifle Association.

Friends may visit noon to 8 p.m. Sept. 2 at the Hawaiian Beaches Community Center for a celebration of life gathering.

He is survived by his sons, Michael (Natalie Fujimoto) Rivera of Honolulu, Ashton (Samantha) Rivera of Hawaiian Beaches and James (Ashley Mattos) Rivera of Hilo; daughters, Dareen (David) Rodarte of California, Rochelle DeNigro of North Carolina, Michele Rivera of Hawaiian Paradise Park, Charlene (Wilton) Rivera-Segui of Florida, Sharina (Joshua Soares) Pavao of Hilo and Jashael Rivera of Hilo; brothers, Dennis (Ruth) Rivera of Hawaiian Beaches, and Albert (Patricia) Rivera of Ewa Beach; sisters, Diana (Tom) Barney of Mountain View and Judy (Robert) Elliott of San Diego; companion, Roxanne Faris of Ainaloa; 23 grandchildren, six great-grandchildren, numerous cousins, nieces, nephews and hanai children.

Robert Rediske

Robert Gilbert Rediske, of Kamuela, died Aug. 15, 2018, in Kamuela. Born in Milwaukee, on May 18, 1937, Robert served our country as an officer in the Navy and worked as a Realtor on the Kohala Coast since the early 1980s.

He is survived by ex-spouse, Annie Rediske; son, Kai (wife Nina) Rediske of Kamuela; and sister, Jean Schlosser of Oconomowoc, Wisc.

Gladys Mills Chock

Gladys Kawailulehua Mills Chock, 85, of Waimea, died Aug. 9, 2018, at Hale Hoola Hamakua. Born in Niulii, she was the widow of Richard Chock, former proprietor of Chock Inn Store in Waimea.

Private services held. Donations may be made to the St. James Espiscopal Church flower fund in memory of the Late Gladys Chock.

She is survived by her daughter, Susan Hanley of Santa Monica, Calif.; son, Harvey (Robbin) Chock of Novato, Calif.; sisters, Norah Williams of San Diego and Odetta (Jim) Price of Nogales, Ariz.; one grandson, and many cousins, nieces and nephews.

Russell Lawrence

Russell David Lawrence, Sr., 56 of Hilo, died Aug. 7, 2018, at Hilo Medical Center. He was born on July 25, 1956, in Hilo.

Friends may call at 6 p.m. Sept. 7 at Ballard Family Mortuary Hilo for a 6:30 p.m. service.

He is survived by spouse, Stephanie Lawrence of Hilo; son, Russell D. (Sheena) Lawrence Jr. of Hilo; daughters, Shawntayne K. (Steven Fogg) Lawrence of Hilo, Shawntel K. (Preston Mercado) Lawrence of Hilo, Sharnell K. Lawrence of Hilo; brothers, James (Jane) Lawrence of Hilo; sister, Pamela (Mark) Perreira of Hilo; mother, Angeline Lawrence of Hilo; 10 grandchildren, numerous uncles, aunts, cousins.

Randolph Pahinui

Randolph “Randy” “Bully” Pahinui, 72, of Honokaa, died Aug. 8, 2018, at Hale Hoola Hamakua. He was born in Honolulu on March 30, 1946.

The scattering of ashes will be at a later date with family and friends.

He is survived by previous wife, Faith Kauai-Ragonton (Pahinui), sons, Kalani Ali’I Pahinui, and Jason Keli’I Pahinui; three daughters-in-law and many loving grandchildren, family and friends.

Tatsuko Horita

Tatsuko “Nora” Horita, 98, of Hilo, died Aug. 10, 2018, at Life Care Center of Hilo. Born Oct. 29, 1919, in Kalopa, she was a retired seamstress from the former Hilo Hattie and Kamehameha Garment Company and a member of Church of the Holy Apostles, Naniakea Community Association, RSVP, Kamana Senior Citizen Center, Double Nine Golf Club and Hawaii Shima Kumamoto Doshi Kai.

Private services were held. Family requests no monetary gifts or flowers.

She is survived by daughter, Barbara Jean (Kenneth) Saito of Hilo; son, Jon (Debbie) Sakurai-Horita of Hilo; and grandson, Jeffrey Saito.
