DENVER — The remains of a Marine from Colorado have been identified nearly 80 years after he was killed at Pearl Harbor.
The Defense POW/MIA Accounting Agency announced Tuesday that Pfc. Alva J. Cremean, who served on the U.S.S. Oklahoma, was accounted for as part of a project to identify the remains of service members killed on the ship on Dec. 7, 1941.
The agency said that Cremean was born in Pueblo and was 21 when he was killed. No information about the whereabouts of his family was released.
Since 2015, over 160 of the estimated 388 unknown Oklahoma service members buried at the National Memorial Cemetery of the Pacific in Honolulu have been identified.
In June, an Oklahoma sailor, Wallace Eakes, was buried at Denver’s Fort Logan National Cemetery after being identified.
