Patrick Keanaaina

Patrick “Michael” Napua Keanaaina, 60, of Kailua-Kona, died Sept. 3, 2018, at his home in Utah. Born Feb. 14, 1958, Michael was a master electrician and contractor.

Memorial services will be held Sept. 29 in St. George, Utah.

He is survived by his wife Karyl Lyn Keanaaina, St. George, Utah; Adam (Shann), Sydney, Australia; Joshua (Julie), Portland, Oregon; Karyn, St. George, Utah; Sean (Hiromi), Setagaya, Tokyo, Japan; sister, Rachel (Sonny) Del Toro of Pearl City, Oahu; brothers, John Jr. (Vicki) of Wailuku, Maui; Vornell (Lynn) of Portland, Oregon; Jacob (Luana) of Kailua-Kona; Wilsam (Tracy) of Kahuku, Oahu; Obed (Jane) of, and Duane (Gail) of Kailua-Kona; 16 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

Don Sodergren

Don Mau Sodergren, 90, of Holualoa, died Sept. 9, 2018, at home. Born Feb. 16, 1928, in East Cleveland, Ohio, he was a federal government workers compensation supervisor and a U.S. Navy and U.S. Marine Corps veteran.

No services.

Survived by, niece, Renee Shook of Holualoa.

Sylvana Simoes

Sylvana “Sylvia” Rabisa Simoes, 99 of Hilo, died Sept. 8 at home. Born April 5, 1919, in Hilo, she was a homemaker and a member of the Glad Tidings Church in Hilo.

A private memorial service/celebration of life will be held at a later date.

She is survived by sons, Alfred (Shirley) Pinero and Lawrence (Terrie) Wood of Washington; Leonard (Sharon) Simoes of Oahu; daughters Eleanor Ajala, Margaret (Samuel) Cummings, Barbara (Darol) Furuta and Mary (Chris) Kuahine all from Oahu, and Diana Gabriel of Hilo; brothers Richard Rabisa of Washington and Milton “Mickey” Rabisa of Hilo; 24 grandchildren, 27 great-grandchildren and 15 great-great-grandchildren.

Suzuko Yamamoto

Suzuko Yamamoto, 95 of Captain Cook, died Aug. 27, 2018, at Hilo Medical Center. Born June 4, 1923, in Pahala, she was a housewife.

Service will be held on Sept. 22, 2018, at Ballard Family Mortuary-Hilo. Visitation 9 a.m., service at 10 a.m. Burial to follow at Homelani Cemetery at noon.

She is survived by sons Darryn (Debra) Yamamoto of Hilo, Iran Yamamoto, and Dan Yamamoto of Hilo; daughter Verna (Randy) Yamabe of Kona; sister Sandra Saiki of Aiea; a sister-in-law; brothers Kenzo (Eunice) Hashimoto of Waiohinu, and Susumu (Nancy) Hashimoto of Kaneohe; four grandchildren, five great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
