Accusation is apples and oranges

In response to Mr. Polhemus’ letter to the editor on Sept. 22, he seems to forget that Tyron Sigrah was convicted of rape by evidence proved against him in a court of law.

Bret Kavanaugh has only been accused of a crime with no evidence presented. In the United States, you are innocent until proven guilty. I see no irony here, Mr. Polhemus.

More apples, more oranges

The major difference in the sentencing of Tyron Sigrah is he was sentenced in a court of law.

Judge Kavanaugh is being sentenced by the court of public opinion.

Courthouse well worth price tag

In response to Mr. Elarionoff’s letter to WHT on Sept. 22, I see he lives in Waimea so I’m wondering if he has ever been to the present Kona Courthouse in Kealakekua or has ever served on a jury there.

Well, I have, and I can testify Mr. Elarionoff that it wasn’t a very pleasant experience. I served on a two-week jury about eight years ago and found the conditions there appalling, beginning with the parking lot and carrying right through the rest of the facility. I tip my hat to the judges, prosecutors, victims of crimes defense attorneys, crooks and the juries that had to conduct the county’s business under those deplorable conditions.

I just received another jury summons and I’m happy to do my civic duty, but this 20-year Kona resident is hopeful that when I’m called to serve again it will be in that $96 million new courthouse. Our community, and the courthouse community, deserves no less.

Dems hypocrisy on Kavanaugh pathetic

The confirmation hearings for Judge Brett Kavanaugh have allowed the Democrats and liberals in our country to do what we have come to expect, make a circus of the proceedings and show everyone once again the hypocrites that they are.

One woman has alleged a possible sexual misconduct that may or may not have happened over 30 years ago when she and Kavanaugh were in high school. Democrats are foaming at the mouth for the pleasure of publicly crucifying Kavanaugh despite the fact that legions of women have come forward to defend him.

Hawaii Senator Mazie Hirono is embracing the liberal media spotlight after demanding that men in this country “Just shut up and step up. Do the right thing, for a change,”

Really? What about men like Bill Clinton? Juanita Broaddrick came forward and reported her rape by Mr. Clinton and Hirono and other democrats were silent. Clinton never “stepped up” and took responsibility. Bill even lied under oath about his affair with Monica Lewinsky, and then later bragged about it in his auto biography. Is that what she means by stepping up?

Ted Kennedy left an innocent girl named Mary Jo Kopechne to drown at Chappaquiddick Island, never faced a day in jail and was treated by Hirono and all other Democrats like an elder statesman and a hero!

Most recently, DNC co-chair and Democrat congressman, Kevin Ellison was exposed as a violent and vicious woman beater when his girlfriend, Karen Monahan, went public with her medical records and photographs of the beating she took from him. Haven’t seen him “step up” and not one liberal or Democrat has even spoken about it.

The silence from the left on these crimes is deafening and proves that they don’t actually care about women, they just care about dragging anyone, man or woman, who doesn’t march goosestep with their political agenda, through the mud!
