Martinson Kaniho Jr.
Martinson “Marty” Pele Kaniho Jr., 51, of Anchorage, Alaska died Aug. 26, 2018, at his residence. Born in California, he was a truck driver and a member of Teamsters 959.
Visitation is from 9-10:30 a.m. Oct. 13 at New Hope Waimea; a celebration of his life will begin at 10:30. Casual attire.
He survived by wife, Vivian Kaniho of Alaska; sons, David Saccheus of Alaska, Michael Saccheus of Alaska, Matthew Saccheus of Alaska, Keoni Makai Anugaaq Kaniho of Alaska; daughter, Zena Lynn Roberts of Alaska, granddaughter, Caylee Lynn Whitmore of Alaska; father, Martinson (Sharon) Kaniho, Sr. of Alaska; brothers, Richard (June) Kaniho of Waimea, Anthony (Bessie) Kaniho of Waimea; hanai sister, Kawehi Taufa of Honolulu; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts and uncles.
He was preceded in death by mother, Charlene Lindsey Kaniho and daughter, Olive Saccheus.

Irene Nagata
Irene Leiko Ikeda Nagata, 87, of Aiea, died Sept. 15, 2018. Born in Holualoa-Kona, she was a retired intern supervisor for the University of Hawaii at Manoa, College of Education.
Friends may call 10 a.m. Oct. 25 at Nuuanu Congregational Church in Honolulu; service of celebration is at 11 a.m. No flowers. Casual attire.
She was preceded in death by husband, Shigeki and brother, George.
She is survived by her sons, Glenn (Shirley) Nagata and Randall (Carol) Nagata of Honolulu; daughters, Joanne (Roy) Arakaki of Honolulu, Claire (Wesley) Nagatori of Keaau; brothers, Jiro Ikeda of Honolulu, Albert “Baer” (Jane) Ikeda of Kona, Hidemi Arthur Ikeda of Honolulu, Dale (Sue Yung) Ikeda of San Francisco and sister, Amy Saito of Hilo; eight grandchildren; two great-grandchildren.

Vernon Karratti
Vernon K. Karratti, 67, of Kapaau, died on Sept. 16, 2018, at his home in Kapaau. He was born on Aug. 8, 1951, in Maile. He attended Honolulu Community College and became a professional painter and owner of VK Painting. He was an active member in the community and was involved in numerous youth sports. He was also the founder and former president of Kohala Baseball League (Youth Support Group).
Friends may call 9-10:30 a.m. Oct. 20 at Jodo Mission Hall in North Kohala for a 10:30 a.m. service with cremation to follow at Dodo Mortuary, Inc. Casual attire.
He is preceded in death by mother, Maryann Thornton; brother, William Karratti; sister, Glorie “Sandy” Thornton and son Clarence “Boy” Kealoha.
He is survived by father, William H Thornton, 97, of Kapaau; wife, Elizabeth Karratti of Kapaau; son, Vernon WT (Bambi) Karratti of Kapaau; daughters, Verina (Boy) Fong of Kailua-Kona, Nalani (Bulla) Reich of Kamuela, Vergina (Ka’i) Karratti of Kapaau; brothers, Richard (Cindy) Karratti of Virginia, Rialrome (Anu) Thornton of Honolulu, Charles Karratti of Kapaau; sisters, Lourisla (Allen) Kauanoe of Kapaau, Marielran (Wayne) Akana and Zariai (Peter) Kaheaku of Honolulu, Naomi Thornton of Kapaau, Gwendolyn Wallace and Barbara Jean Karratti of Las Vegas; hanai sons, Teddy (Shantelle) Akau of Kamuela, Itchy (Robbie) Igarashi of Kapaau, Earl Hoshida of Hawi and Keone (Millicent) Glory of Halaula; two godchildren; one hanai grandson, 37 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
