The Firehouse Gallery in Waimea will feature art of the best of Hawaii Island from Oct. 31 to Nov. 24, with art inspired by the beauty of the Big Island in the front part of the gallery.

The subjects of the art include Akaka Falls, Kilauea volcano, Maunakea and Mauna Loa volcanoes, the dry forest area near Kona with wiliwili trees, the green pasture lands of Waimea and North Kohala, to the Hamakua Coast with Waipio Valley and areas near Hilo.

The back part of the gallery will start off the holiday “affordable art sale.”

This is a collection created by the Arts Council’s local artists. The only criteria is that the art may be anything the artists want but must be priced at $250 or less. The collection also includes koa wood creations, prints and cards.

All of the art work is created by local artists who are also members of the Waimea Arts Council and will include photography, drawings, original oil paintings, watercolor paintings or mixed media. Additionally, the collection will include handcrafted koa wood art pieces.

The Firehouse Gallery is the most visible part of the Waimea Arts Council and is located at 67-1291 Mamalahoa Highway in Kamuela.

The Waimea Arts Council is a nonprofit organization dedicated to promoting local artists and their art. The gallery is open Wednesday through Sunday from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.
