The state’s supreme court today struck down a ballot measure for a proposed constitutional amendment, saying it violates state law that ballot questions “be clear and not misleading.”
The amendment, if approved by voters, would have allowed the state to tax properties to fund public education, but the court on Friday sided with the state’s counties whose attorneys argued that the question was too vague.
As a result, the court ordered the state’s chief elections officer to declare the ballot question invalid and that any votes for or against it not be counted. A written opinion is to come.
