Wednesday, Oct. 24
“Ghostbusters” (2016) will be screened from 2 to 4:15 p.m. at Kealakekua Public Library. Free popcorn will be served and beverages in closed containers are permitted. This free program is sponsored by Friends of the Libraries, Kona. Info: 323-7585.

Naalehu Public Library hosts a family friendly Halloween party starting from 1:30 to 3:30 p.m. The free event for all ages will feature a photo booth, snacks, games, crafts, and a special appearance and beatboxing workshop with Mr. Kneel. Info: 939-2442.

Hawaii Island Humane Society holds its annual Howl’ween Dog Walk slated at Central Bark at the Animal Community Center. All walkers with or without dogs are invited to participate and are encouraged to raise pledges to support shelter animals. Walk gets underway at 8:30. Tim Ewing’s haunted house comes to life when darkness falls until 9:30 p.m. in Kailua-Kona. The yard, located at 77-6518 Sea View Circle offers up an array of scares and frights. Admission is free, but a donation of canned or nonperishable food is suggested.

The Hub Church will hold its annual free Family Fun Night 5-7:30 p.m. at the Old Kona Airport Park. The free event will feature party bouncers, a climbing wall, games, refreshments, entertainment and a costume contest. Attendees are encouraged to donate canned goods to help those in need. Trick-or-treating, popcorn and cotton candy, a magic show and costume costume contest are planned from 4-6 p.m. at the Kings’ Shops in Waikoloa. Trick-or-treating will take place at participating stores starting at 4 p.m. At 5:30 p.m., The Great Barusky offers a magic show, and at 6, there will be a children’s costume contest.
