Wednesday, Oct. 24

“Ghostbusters” (2016) will be screened from 2 to 4:15 p.m. at Kealakekua Public Library. Free popcorn will be served and beverages in closed containers are permitted. This free program is sponsored by Friends of the Libraries, Kona. Info: 323-7585.

Thursday, Oct. 25

Learn about states of matter by playing with dry ice bubbles in this fun science experiment. Suitable for ages 8 and up. Small children must be accompanied by an adult. This free program is sponsored by Friends of the Libraries, Kona. Info: 323-7585.

Friday, Oct. 26

Naalehu Public Library hosts a family friendly Halloween party starting from 1:30 to 3:30 p.m. The free event for all ages will feature a photo booth, snacks, games, crafts, and a special appearance and beatboxing workshop with Mr. Kneel. Info: 939-2442.

“The Addams Family: A New Musical” at Aloha Theatre. Creepy, kooky, mysterious, spooky — beloved Morticia, Lurch, and all the Addams come alive — or dead — on the Aloha stage in this popular Broadway musical. Show starts at 7:30 p.m. Tickets $10-$22. Info: www.apachawaii.org.

Saturday, Oct. 27

Hawaii Island Humane Society holds its annual Howl’ween Dog Walk slated at Central Bark at the Animal Community Center. All walkers with or without dogs are invited to participate and are encouraged to raise pledges to support shelter animals. Walk gets underway at 8:30. The event includes contests, costumes, prizes and team challenges. Registration is free. Info: www.hihs.org.

Keauhou Shopping Center’s Ohana Halloween Paina is from 5-9:30 p.m. The event features costume contests, trick-or-treating at participating stores, a keiki fun zone, food and live entertainment including Motown-inspired singing group, A Touch of Gold. Info: www.keauhoushoppingcenter.com.

Earl’s Garage Fright Shop is 5:30-8:30 p.m. at Kamuela Business Center in Waimea. The free spooky experience is created by kids who attend Earl’s Garage’s out of school hours’ program. The mechanically animated Halloween experience is open to everyone. Info: www.earlsgarage.org.

Wednesday, Oct. 31

Tim Ewing’s haunted house comes to life when darkness falls until 9:30 p.m. in Kailua-Kona. The yard, located at 77-6518 Sea View Circle offers up an array of scares and frights. Admission is free, but a donation of canned or nonperishable food is suggested.

Trick or Treat Parker Ranch Center in Waimea from 5-7 p.m. Treats will be handed out at all the center’s stores, while supplies last. Info: www.parkerranchcenter.com.

The Hub Church will hold its annual free Family Fun Night 5-7:30 p.m. at the Old Kona Airport Park. The free event will feature party bouncers, a climbing wall, games, refreshments, entertainment and a costume contest. Attendees are encouraged to donate canned goods to help those in need. The Halloween movie “Hocus Pocus” will be screen from 2-3:45 p.m. at Kealakekua Public Library. Free popcorn will be served and beverages in closed containers are permitted. Info: 323-3585.

Queens’ MarketPlace hosts “Happy HalloQueen” from 5-7 p.m. The open-air shopping center will fill up with princesses, superheroes and fun creatures of all shapes and sizes, as tricksters promenade for free treats. Info: www.queensmarketplace.net.

Trick-or-treating, popcorn and cotton candy, a magic show and costume costume contest are planned from 4-6 p.m. at the Kings’ Shops in Waikoloa. Trick-or-treating will take place at participating stores starting at 4 p.m. At 5:30 p.m., The Great Barusky offers a magic show, and at 6, there will be a children’s costume contest.
