Jeannie Bargas
Jeannie Akalia Bargas, 74, of Keaau, died on Oct. 25, 2018, at her residence. Born on Feb. 10, 1944, in Honolulu, she was a foster parent for the state of Hawaii, musician and a member of the New Hope East Hawaii.
Friends may call on Sunday, Nov. 4, at Dodo Mortuary Chapel; visitation from 1-2 p.m.; funeral service at 2 p.m. Casual attire; flowers and lei are welcomed; burial at Alae Cemetery (new section).
She is survived by husband, Charles J. Bargas of Keaau; sons, John (Denise) Acasia of Kona, Hawaii and Todd (Jenelle) Ortiz of Pahoa; stepsons, Micah (Sundie) Bargas of Honolulu, Charles Bargas, Jr. and Jeremy Bargas of Washington state; foster children, Isaiah, Ciana, Wyatt and Ochon; brother, Henry (Ceralyin) Acasia of Keaau; sisters, Rosaline Soto and Irvine Joseph of Pahoa; six grandchildren and five-great-grandchildren, numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.

Dana Carvalho
Dana West Carvalho, 69, of Holualoa, died Oct. 16, 2018, at her residence, surrounded by loved ones. Born in Corpus Christi, Texas. on Feb. 12, 1949, she was a preschool director. She was a member of the Kai E Hitu Canoe Club, Kai O Pua Canoe Club and Angel Fire New Mexico Hiking Club.
Private services will be held at a later date.
She is survived by sons, Matthew (Lauren Meyer) Carvalho of Los Angeles, and Ryan (Heather) Carvalho of Kailua-Kona; two grandchildren.

Wade Hanashiro
Wade Masao Hanashiro, 65, of Hilo, died Oct. 15, 2018, at his residence. Born in Hilo, he was a retired salesperson at Green Point Nursery and a member of the Honomu Hongwanji Mission.
Friends may call 9:30–10:30 a.m. Tuesday, Nov. 6, at Dodo Mortuary Chapel; memorial service at 10:30. Casual attire.
Survived by mother, Yoshino Hanashiro of Honomu; brothers, Allan (Duen) Hanashiro of Las Vegas, Clyde “Kazu” Hanashiro of Hilo; sister, Maxine Hanashiro of Hilo; caregiver and uncle, George Hanashiro of Hilo; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts and uncles.

Edward Pavao
Edward Pavao, 86, of Hilo died Oct. 16, 2018, at the Hale Aneunue Restorative Care Center. Born in Hilo, he was a retired science, agriculture and industrial arts teacher at Keaau Intermediate School, Ka’u High School, Kohala High School and PICS High School on Pohnpei, FSM. He was also a woodworker, Merrie Monarch Craft Fair Vendor, member of the Hilo United Methodist Church and Choir and a veteran of the U.S. Army during the Korean War.
Friends may call 3-4 p.m., Nov. 7, at Hilo United Methodist Church; memorial service at 4. A graveside committal service will take place at noon Nov. 16 at Hawaii Veterans Cemetery #2. Aloha attire. Family requests no flowers and no monetary gifts (Koden).
