Thanksgiving imu fundraiser

Enjoy the best turkey (or ham, pork butt, ulu, uala or kalo) ever and support the Maona Community Garden and the West Hawaii Explorations Academy (WHEA). The middle school students from WHEA are fundraising to take their annual trip to the East Coast of the mainland US to study American history and civics.

Added bonus: Want some imu ulu to have with your holiday celebration? If so, let us know when you make your reservation. Our project partner the Hawaii Ulu Producers Cooperative has donated 200 lbs of ulu to feed our community. $20, reservation required, deadline Nov. 20.

Drop off: 4 p.m. Nov. 21 at Maona Community Garden; if you need to drop your package off earlier than 4 p.m., it needs to be in a cooler on ice. Pickup on Thanksgiving Day, Nov. 22, between 8 and 10 a.m.

Preparation instructions: Maximum weight of 20 lbs, must be completely thawed with giblets removed. Do not stuff your turkey, but season it to your taste. Wrap food items well in 2 layers of heavy-duty aluminum foil and place in a foil pan.

Questions, comments and reservations: 937-9800 or maonacommunity garden@gmail.com.
