Jeffrey Hideo Shigemi, 59, of Kahului, died Oct. 18, 2018, at home. Born in Hilo, he was a journeyman carpenter and a member of the Pukalani Congregation of Jehovah’s Witnesses.
Services will be held at 2 p.m. Nov. 17 at the Paukaa Kingdom Hall of Jehovah Witnesses located at 445 Kulana St., Hilo. Visitation is from 12:30-2 p.m.

Gavin Harrison
Gavin Wilford Harrison, 68, died on Oct. 24, 2018, in Seattle. Born March 18, 1950, in Johannesburg, South Africa, he was a beloved Buddhist teacher in Hawaii, on the mainland U.S. and in South Africa.
A life celebration memorial was held at Hapuna Beach.
He is survived by his brother and his wife, Craig J. Harrison and Lori Harrison.
Raymond Mata, Jr.
Raymond “Tom” Thomas Mata, Jr., 51, of Waikoloa, died Sept. 29, 2018, at Kona Community Hospital. Born March 24, 1967, in Honolulu, he was a landscaper for Resort Management Group, LLC.
A Celebration of Life will be held 4 p.m. Nov. 17 at Hale Halawai.

William Trumbo
William “Bill” Roy Trumbo, 79, of Kailua-Kona and Volcano, died Oct. 28, 2018, at a private care home in Hilo. Born in New Haven, Kentucky, he was the retired athletic director at Konawaena High School and formerly at the University of Hawaii-Hilo. He was a life-long educator, coach, athletic director, teacher and held positions at the University of Idaho, McMinnville High School, Santa Barbara City College, and Cal State University Monterey Bay, among others.
Friends may call 10-11 a.m. Nov. 17 at New Hope Hilo (840 Kupulau Road); a celebration of his life will begin at 11 a.m.. Casual attire is requested. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Memory of “Bill” to New Hope Volcano.

Josephine Santos Salas, 88, of Hilo, died on Oct. 19, 2018, at Hale Anuenue Restorative Care Center. Born on Nov. 11, 1929, in Honomu, she was a housewife and member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Hilo.

Margaret Torigoe
Margaret Aiko Torigoe, age 78, of Hilo, died Nov. 3, 2018, in the Hawaii Care Choices Pohai Malama Facility in Hilo. Born in Hilo on Sept. 25, 1940, she was employed by the State of Hawaii Department of Education as a home economics teacher, retiring from Waiakea High School in Hilo. She was a member of the Church of the Holy Cross, Hui Okinawa, Alpha Delta Kappa and Kaumana Terrace Community Association.
Visitation will be held at Dodo Mortuary Chapel in Hilo from 3:30-5 p.m. Nov. 16; memorial service will begin at 5 p.m. Casual attire is requested. No flowers. No koden.

Francisca Ver Pasamonte, 82, of Kapaau, died on Nov.5, 2018, at her residence. Born on April 2, 1936, in Sarrat, Ilocos Norte, Philippines, she was a proprietor of Silver Pas Seamstress and worked at Royal Waikoloa Beach Hotel, Hapuna Prince Hotel and Mauna Kea Beach Hotel on the Kohala Coast. She also was a member of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Hawi.

Leilani Kanehailua Araki, 64, of Kohala, died Oct. 27, 2018, at North Hawaii Community Hospital. Born on September 26, 1954, in Japan, she was a server with Paradise Gourmet Catering and banquet server at The Orchid at Mauna Lani. She was also a longtime member of Landmark Baptist Church in North Kohala.
