Art Teachers Grant deadline Nov. 30

The Hawaii Artist Collaboration application deadline for the 2018 Art Teachers Grant is Nov. 30.

This grant was established to provide art making materials to Big Island public school art teachers. The Hawaii Artist Collaboration has raised $20,000 so far in this effort from the support of participating artists and auction proceeds. Akamai Arts has generously added to this fund with additional teacher discounts and surplus materials.

Please visit http://www.hawaiiartist collaboration.org to download an application or stop by Amakai Art Supply in the Kaloko Industrial area. Please contact Hawaiicollaboration@gmail.com for more information or to donate to this fund.

Kona Palisades Artists hosting open studio tour

The Kona Palisades Artists Group will be hosting their fifth annual Open Studio Tour from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. today and Sunday.

This creative group consists of eight Big Island artists living in close proximity to each other in the Kona Palisades Estates area. It is a unique opportunity when this group of artists opens their studios to the public for touring and artists’ demonstrations of their work process with an opportunity to purchase their art.

The Kona Palisades Artists Group members are Jennifer Azzarone, acrylic photo transfer, mixed media; Stefanie Culbertson, watercolor; Cynthia Hankins, photography; Bill Jaeger, stained glass; Kathleen Jaeger, mosaic, acrylic painting, pen &ink, painted glassware; Heather Mettler, sandblasted glass vessels; Maya Sorum, watercolor, jewelry; Bill Twibell, gyotaku (fish printing).

This is a self-guided driving open studio tour to meet eight artists at four locations with their art displayed in their studio or presentation space in the Kona Palisades Estates subdivision. Keep a look out for the signs posted directing you to the four stops starting from either the top or the bottom of Kaiminani Drive.
