Claridad Alupay
Claridad Miguel Alupay, 93, of Kailua-Kona, died Nov. 7, 2018, at the family’s residence. Born in Ilocos Norte, Philippines on Aug. 13, 1925, she was a homemaker. She was a vegetable farmer and a laundry attendant at White Linen Company. She was a member of the Jehovah’s Witnesses.
Services will be held at 10 a.m. Nov. 24 at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses at 78-6955 Mamalahoa Highway in Holualoa. Burial will follow at the Kona Memorial Park and luncheon and fellowship will be at the Kona Outdoor Circle on Kuakini Highway. The family requests casual attire and no flowers.
She is survived by her son, Remigio Molina of Kailua-Kona; daughters, Dorothy (Edwin) Amazona and Josie (Carlito) Yadao of Kailua-Kona; 11 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews.

Ethelwyne Nahina
Ethelwyne Elizabeth Nahina, 79, of Hilo, formerly of Oahu, died Oct. 29, 2018, at Mohouli Senior Residence in Hilo. Born in Honolulu in Oct. 1939, she worked for the Y.M.C.A./Leeward/CIS on Oahu as a secretary.

She is survived by husband, Rodney D. Nahina of Hilo; two daughters, Carol Smith of Juneau, Alaska, and Rita (Makani) Miller of Keaau; three sons, Walter Firpo Smith III of Kalapana, Patrick Allen Smith of Kalapana and Carlos (Sheila) Huff of Valdez, Alaska; three brothers, Vincent Aquino Sr. of Kailua-Kona, Stanley (Patricia) Aquino Sr. of Waianae, and John Aquino Sr. of Kapaa; two sisters, Louise Galla of Tucson, Arizona and Evalani (Stanley) Mahan of Tucson, Arizona; 13 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

Dorothy Sipe
Dorothy Kuilehua Wilson Sipe, 86, of Holualoa, died Nov. 8, 2018, at the Kona Community Hospital. Born in Honolulu on January 13, 1932, she was a former merchandise manager for Liberty House. She was a bartender at the former Kona Sunset Lanai and a member of St. Michael’s Parish.

Sydney Byrnes-Chun
Sydney Louise Byrnes-Chun, 85, of Kailua-Kona, died Nov. 4, 2018, at the Kona Community Hospital. Born in Ridgewood, New Jersey on Nov. 18, 1932, she was an employment agency business owner and a member of the Kona Citizens Club.
Services were held and her ashes were scattered by the Keauhou Canoe Club.
She is survived by her son, Warner Glassford of Los Angeles; daughters, Zedena (Martin) Kelemen of Kailua-Kona, Lovelia (Patrick) Tamez of Oahu and Dawn Bankson of Ocean Shores, Washington; brother, Frank Byrnes, III of Oahu; sister, Bobee Kjellin of Vista, California; 13 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews.
