PULLMAN — Chanelle Molina put on a show for Washington State Thursday night, turning in a packed stat line to lead the way in a 91-61 victory over San Francisco.
Molina poured in a season-high 28 points to go with five rebounds, seven assists, and a career-best five steals. The 28 points marked her sixth-straight double-digit scoring game and third 20-plus point game of the season.
Molina — a Konawaena grad and one of three Molina sisters on the Cougars’ roster — hit 4 of 5 three-pointers. She scored 12 points in the second quarter when the Cougars scored a program-record 34 points to take a 61-26 lead into halftime.
Washington State is currently 3-4 and on a two game winning streak. Boise State is up next today in Pullman.
“It’s great to see them see some success, feel some success, and see when you do the right things in practice and you’re consistently what you need to be sometimes good things happen in a game,” WSU coach Kamie Ethridge said.
Chanelle Molina, a junior, leads Washington State in minutes played and assists this season. She’s averaging 16.9 points per game.
True freshman Cherilyn Molina has found her way into the rotation, notching just under 18 minutes per game. She has scored in all but one game this season.
Sophomore Celena Molina has appeared in all but one game, albeit without seeing major minutes yet, registering a season-high four rebounds in the Cougs season-debut against Utah State.
