Silom Yamamoto

Silom Yamamoto, 85, of Kaauhuhu, Kohala, died on Dec. 7, 2018, at North Hawaii Community Hospital. Born on Sept, 30, 1933, in Makapala, Kohala. He was raised in Niulii, Kohala and attended Makapala School. He was a U.S. Army veteran and employed by Parker Ranch, Seymour &Priscilla Shingle, Alicia Shingle King, Stillman Ranch, and retired as a the garage manager from Kahua Ranch, Ltd. following 42 years of dedicated service. He was also a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Kohala Ward.

Visitation will from 9 to 10 a.m. on Dec. 22 at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Kohala Ward; memorial service at 10 a.m.; private urn burial to be held. Casual attire is requested.

He is survived by, companion, Sharmaine Solomon of Kohala; daughters, Iris Sarah Yamamoto and Ginger (Rodney) Ishimine all of Kohala; grandsons, Kala (Jessica K.A. Kim) Ishimine, Kamalu Ishimine, Ka’aina Ishimine and Kapono Ishimine all of Kaauhuhu, Kohala; granddaughter, Konane Ishimine of Kaauhuhu, Kohala; brothers, William (Mildred) Yamamoto of Hilo, Kamaka Yamamoto of Hilo and Manuel (June) Yamamoto of Halaula; sisters-in-law, Ethel Yamamoto of Kapaau, Hanako Yamamoto of Niuli’i, Rosemarie Yamamoto of Lakeside, Arizona, Rose K. Ha of Wahiawa, Oahu and Mary K. Lee of Waipahu, Oahu; numerous nephews, nieces and cousins.

Ruth Kraft

Ruth Loomis Kraft, 89, of Kailua-Kona, died Nov. 24, 2018, at her Kailua-Kona residence surrounded by her ohana. Born March 5, 1929, in Cleveland, Ohio, she moved to Oahu in 1952.

A private gathering to honor and celebrate Ruth will be held at her Kona home on Sunday, Jan. 6.

Ruth is survived by her son Robert Orland Kraft (Elizabeth) of Kailua-Kona; daughter Renee Helen Kraft of Kailua-Kona; grandsons William Bible and Jack Bible.

Roselind Decker

Roselind Edwina Decker, 65 of Hilo, died Oct. 26, 2018, at home. She was born on April 20, 1953 in Hilo. She was a PBX/CBX Telephone operator and member of Mana Christian Ohana.

A Celebration of Life to be held on Dec. 22. Visitation is 9:30 a.m. with a service 11 a.m. at Mana Christian Ohana 67-1182 Lindsey Road, Kamuela, Hawaii, 96743. Paina to follow.

She is survived by husband Dwight Decker of Kamuela; sons Michael (Sui Yen Rita) Kauwe of Kauai, Dwight (Johanna) Decker of Waiohinu; daughters Misty (James) Key of Kamuela, Melissa (Robert) Lander of Kamuela, Barbra Decker of Kamuela, Naomi (Donald Gates) Decker of Hawaiian Acres; brothers Reidar (Sharon) Smith of Carnation, WA, Elwood Smith of San Luis Obispo, California; 10 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.

Wesley Saldua

Wesley Anthony Saldua, 52, of Washington formerly of Papaikou died Nov. 29, 2018, at his residence. Born on June 13, 1966, in Hilo, he was an engineer for the Boeing Aerospace Company and an avid musician.

Friends may call on Dec. 28 at Dodo Mortuary Chapel. Visitation is from 5-6 p.m.; prayer service at 6 p.m. Casual attire and flowers are welcomed. A graveside service will be held on Dec. 29, 2018, at Homelani Memorial Park (Ilima Section) at 11 a.m.

He is survived by mother, Adeline Saldua of Papaikou; sisters, Sylvia Shauvin and Dolores Childs of Mainland and Brenda Gordon of Mainland; brother, Randall Saldua of Papaikou; numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and a nephew.
