Donald Kim

Donald D.K. Kim, 91, of Hilo, died Dec. 10, 2018 at Pohai Malama. Born on March 30, 1927, in Honolulu, he was a retired maintenance supervisor with Aloha Airlines and a member of Tenth Hole Golf Club.

He is survived by sons, Steven Kim, Zeffery “Kimo” Kim, Kenneth “Moki” Kim, Ryan Kim; daughter, Donna Tsugawa; sister, Betty Fo, all of Kaimuki; nine grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren.

Barbara Ueda

Barbara Jean (Binyan) Ueda, 74, of Hilo, died Dec. 6, 2018, at Hawaii Care Choices Pohai Malama Care Center. Born May 23, 1944, in Hilo, she was a retired purchasing agent for the United States Department of Agriculture.

Friends may call at 4 p.m. Dec. 27 at Dodo Mortuary chapel in Hilo for a 5 p.m. service. Family requests casual attire be worn.

She is survived by husband, Lester Ueda of Hilo; children, Les Garon Ueda of San Antonio, Gaylynne (Robin) Rivera, Aaron (Ramona) Nagata and Guy Nagata of Kona; siblings, Lorraine Mendonca and Shirley (Ronald) Kobayashi of Hilo, Clarence (Gloria) Amador of New Mexico; 11 grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews.

Harley Bell-Chase

Harley “Harley Boy” Jamerson Bell-Chase, 27, of Hilo, died Dec. 7, 2018 in Hilo. Born Dec. 16, 1990, in Hilo, he was a student at Hawaii Community College and member of New Hope Hilo.

Friends may call at 9 a.m. Dec. 28 at Dodo Mortuary chapel in Hilo for a 10 a.m. service. Cremation to follow. Family requests casual attire be worn.

Verna Villaverde

Verna Nani (Aina) Villaverde, 86, of Hilo, died Nov. 28, 2018 at Life Care Center of Hilo. Born Dec. 11, 1931, in Hilo, she was retired from Naniloa Hotel and member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

Friends may call at 8 a.m. Jan. 4 at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Hilo Stake Center, 1373 Kilauea Ave., for a 10 a.m. service. Burial follows at Alae Cemetery. Family requests casual attire be worn.

She is survived by children, Byron (Lynn) Villaverde, Carl Ray Villaverde, Marcelle (Jon Sisler) Villaverde, Verna (Hudson) Lee, Thomas (Karin) Villaverde, Shawna (Shelly) Cunningham; sister, Myra (George) Aina-Paul; brothers, Henry (Lynda) Aina, Edward Aina; numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and cousins.

Jane Mitsuda

Jane H. Mitsuda, 86, of Hilo died Nov. 18, 2018 at the Hilo Medical Center. Born in Hilo, she was a retired office clerk for the University of Hawaii-Hilo, formerly employed with the Hilo Peace Corps and a member of Hilo Daijingu and Taishoji Soto Mission.

Friends may call 9-10 a.m. Dec. 29 at Dodo Mortuary Chapel; memorial service at 10 a.m. Casual attire is requested.

She is survived by son, Glenn (Jan) J. Mitsuda of Hilo; grandchildren, Russell Mitsuda of Hilo, Chelsea Mitsuda of Hilo; sister-in-law, Violet Hara of Honolulu; numerous nieces and nephews.
