Thelma Alameda

Thelma Lisa Miulang Naleinanionakupuna Alameda, 77, died Nov. 27, 2018. She was born July 6, 1941, to Arthur and Juliette Akao.

Friends may call at 10:30 a.m. for a service at 11:30 a.m. at Hawaiian Memorial Park Mortuary. Burial is at 1 p.m. at Hawaii State Veterans Cemetery.

She is survived by children, Terry Ann (Posene) Ilaoa, Corrina Farrar, Elizabeth (Mark) Rabe, Cyril (Susanna) Onto, Jr.; sisters, Evangeline Macaysa, Pearl Keanaaina, Jan (Larry) Grocox; 19 grandchildren, 38 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great grandchild.

She was preceded in death by husband, Henery Alameda.

Leslie Correia

Leslie D. Correia, 73, of Kalopa, died Nov. 24, 2018, at home. Born in Laupahoehoe, he was a retired police officer for the Hawaii County Police Department and a U.S. Navy veteran. He was also a watermelon farmer and rancher and former owner of Alfalfa Hay &Cubes Feed Store in Paauilo.

Visitation will be held from 8-9:30 a.m. Jan. 12 at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church, Honokaa; memorial Mass at 9:30 a.m. Casual attire.

He is survived by wife, Kay Correia of Kalopa; daughters, Lisa (Matthew) Correia-Burger of Olalla, Wash., and Michelle (Paul) Correia of Kalopa; son, Brendon (Zelina) Correia of Honokaa; brother, Rodger (Linda) Clark of Texas; sister, Jheriann Maier of Florida; 11 grandchildren; 4 great-grandchildren.

Kikue Ryusaki

Kikue “Mama” Ryusaki, 98, of Waimea, died Dec. 24, 2018, at Hale Hoola Hamakua in Honokaa. Born May 18, 1920, in Captain Cook, she was a homemaker and member of Kamuela Hongwanji Mission, Buddhist Women’s Association, Kamuela Japanese-American Civic Association and Kamuela Senior Citizens.

Friends may call at 10 a.m. Jan. 12 at Kamuela Hongwanji Mission, Church Row, for an 11 a.m. service. Family requests casual attire be worn.

She is survived by daughter-in-law, Pauline Shinshiro of Waimea; grandchildren, Janlyn (Burt) Ryusaki-Phillips of Waimea, Jason (Leila) Ryusaki of Hilo, Jay Ryusaki of Waimea; great-grandchildren, Keilyn Ryusaki, Kalani Ryusaki-Phillips, Haloa Ryusaki, Kaihao Ryusaki; numerous nieces and nephews.

Phyllis Hashimoto

Phyllis “Honey Girl” Naomi Akamu Ma’ele Duarte Hashimoto, 80, of Naalehu, died Nov. 20, 2018 at Ka’u Hospital in Pahala. Born March 30, 1938, in Kealakekua, she was a homemaker.

Friends may call at 9 a.m. Jan. 12 at Kauahaao Congregational Church in Waiohinu for an 11 a.m. service. Family requests casual attire be worn.

She is survived by sons, Ladd (Kathy) Hashimoto of Naalehu, Tyron (Karen) Hashimoto of Pampa, Texas; daughter, Sophia (James) Lorenzo of Naalehu; sister, Vivian (Richard) Pinto of Honolulu; 10 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews.

George Dolaptchieff

George Dolaptchieff, 91, of Pahoa, died Dec. 31, 2018, at Hawaii Care Choices Pohai Malama Care Center. Born in Sofia, Bulgaria, he was a retired banker.

Private services were held.

He is survived by wife, Doris Dolaptchieff; children, Susan (Jim) Gerakaris, Dan (Janet) Dolaptchieff, Nicolas Dolaptchieff; and grandson, Paul Dolaptchieff.

Joyce Fennell

Joyce Mary Fennell, 77, of Hilo, died Dec. 19, 2018, at the Hilo Medical Center. She was born in Honolulu. She was a homemaker.
