College report: Ewing closes out Concordia career with All-American selection

Concordia University’s Gabrielle Ewing — a Hawaii Preparatory Academy graduate — was selected to the United Soccer Coaches/NCAA Division II All-American Third Team.

Last season, Ewing was named to the D2CCA All-American Honorable Mention Team.

The Kona native was also named to the United Soccer Coaches/NCAA Division II All-West Region First Team for the second time in her career.

Ewing also was named to the All-Great Northwest Athletic Conference (GNAC) first team along being named to the D2CCA All-West Region first team honoree.

The senior midfielder played a key role in the Cavaliers capturing its first ever GNAC women’s soccer championships title by defeating then No. 6 Western Washington 2-1 in overtime in Portland on Nov. 3.

The Cavaliers received their second consecutive bid to the NCAA Division II women’s soccer championships. Concordia won its first round game 2-1 over Seattle Pacific on Nov. 8. The Cavs ended their season in the second round with a 3-2 overtime loss to Western Washington 3-2 in overtime.

Ewing led the No. 11 Cavaliers with her eight goals and tied for the team lead in points with 22. She also tied for the team lead with four game-winning goals. Besides her eight goals, she added six assists which finished third on the team.

She finished her career in the navy and white with 22 goals, 19 assists, 11 game-winning goals and 69 points.

Ewing finished on the Cavaliers’ all-time career list tied for sixth in game-winning goals and tenth in points.
