William Anger

William Henry Anger, 68 of Keaau, died Dec. 22, 2018, at Hilo Medical Center. He was born on June 8, 1950 in Chicago and was a retired woodworker.

Celebration of life will be held at a later date.

William is survived by spouse, Shiony Anger of Keaau; son, Nathan Anger of Tucson, Ariz.; daughter, Angela (Rosendo Vergara) Anger of Tucson, Ariz.; brothers, Robert (Iris) Anger of Kula, David (Tori) Anger of Cuos Bay, Ore.; sisters, Patricia (Dan Lloyd) Anger of Keaau, Michelle (Mike) Gilles of Bend, Ore., Laura (Michael) Gray of Cuos Bay, Ore.; two grandchildren.

Gwendolyn Richards

Gwendolyn “Gwen” Diane Richards, 70, of Kailua-Kona, died Jan. 9, 2019, at her residence. Born Jan. 24, 1948, in Honolulu, she was a homemaker and a retired beautician.

A celebration of life will be held at a later date.

She is survived by son, James McCandless; daughter, Kimberly Richards both of Kailua-Kona; sisters, Marie Miller of Ocean View, Madeline McCandless of Honolulu, Thelma McCandless of Hilo, Helen (Malcolm) Kia of Kailua Kona; brothers, Clifford Figueroa of Nevada, Thomas McCandless of Hilo; six grandchildren, a great-grandson, numerous nieces and nephews.

Louis Lawrence

Louis George Lawrence, 88, of Haina, Honokaa, died Dec. 3, 2018, at the Hilo Medical Center. He was born in Haina, Honokaa, and was a retired carpenter.

Visitation 5-6 p.m. Friday at the Honokaa Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church. Memorial Mass at 6 p.m. Casual attire.

He is survived by his daughters, Laura (Armando) Vasquez of Haina and Lorna Lawrence of Honokaa; son, Wayne Lawrence of Papaaloa; 11 grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren, one great-great-granddaughter.

Gilbert Medeiros, Sr.

Gilbert Medeiros, Sr., 88, of South Point died Dec. 17, 2018, at his residence. Born in South Kona, he was a retired foreman and cowboy for Kahuku Ranch and McCandless Ranch, member of the Paniolo Hall of Fame and Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Naalehu.

An all-night vigil will take place at his home in South Point beginning at 2 p.m. Jan. 18. Visitation will be from 9-10 a.m. Jan. 19 at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Naalehu; funeral Mass at 10 a.m. Burial to follow at the Naalehu Community Cemetery. Casual attire.

He is survived by wife, Pansy Leialoha Wedemeyer Long-Medeiros of Honolulu; daughter, Peggy (Derek) Tolentino of Kawaihae; son, Gilbert Medeiros, Jr. of Naalehu; step-daughters, Lorena (Austin) Shaw of Kawaihae, Belinda (Kenneth) Long-Chang of Honolulu, Lisa (Wayne) Long-Hess of Honolulu; stepson, John (Lilinoe) Long of Honolulu; brothers, Alfred Medeiros of Hookena, Frank Medeiros of Kauai; sister, Phoebe Loo of Utah; 19 grandchildren, 52 great-grandchildren, two great-great-grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews.

Patrick Coito, Sr

Patrick LeRoy Coito, Sr., 72, of Honokaa, died Dec. 25, 2018, at home. Born on May 22, 1946, in Kohala, he was the owner of Ohana Woods, a retired café and nutritional aide at North Hawaii Community Hospital and a veteran of the U.S. Army.

Visitation will be held from 8-9:30 a.m. Jan. 19 at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church, Honokaa. Memorial Mass is at 10 a.m. Casual attire.

He is survived by spouse, Barbara Coito of Honokaa; daughters, Dardenella “Darde” (Darren) Gamayo of Waipio Valley and Anna (James) Anderson of Raymond, Washington; son, Patrick Coito, Jr. of Paauilo; brothers, Moses (Mona) Coito of San Diego, Alan (Frances) Coito, Sr. of Elk Grove, Calif., Frank Coito, III of Kohala, Steve (Joelyn) Coito of Kohala, Timothy (Ann) Coito of Kohala and William (Terry) McNulty, Jr. of Beaverton, Ore.; sister, Cindy (Wayne) Tobin of Navato, Calif.; 11 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; numerous aunt, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.

Mae Cordeiro

Mae Jean “Jeannie” Ferreira Cordeiro, 81, of Kalopa Homestead, died on Friday, Dec. 28, 2018, at home. Born on Feb. 16, 1937, in Honokaa, she was a homemaker and member of Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church in Honokaa.

Private services will be held at a later date.

She is survived by son, Eddie Gene (Juanette) Cordeiro of Kalopa Homestead; brother, William (Bernie) Ferreira of Kalopa; one daughter-in-law, onebrother-in-law; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

William Cabuag, Jr.

William “Bull” Kaleo Cabuag, Jr., 55, of Hilo, died Jan. 1, 2019, at home. Born in Honolulu, he attended Campbell High School and was a stone wall mason.

John Karratti

John Kapalenaokalani Karratti, 80, of Hilo, died Dec. 18, 2018, at home. Born in Honolulu, he was a construction foreman and contractor, and was a member of Halepule Ke Ola Hou and New Hope Christian Fellowship, and Waiakea Seniors Kupuna Softball.
