KAILUA-KONA — Alternating lane closures are planned this week around Hawaii Island.

In North Kona, alternating single-lane closures will also be in effect in both directions from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Tuesday through Friday on Mamalahoa Highway (Highway 190) between mile markers 31 and 33 for landscaping and shoulder work in North Kona, according to the state Department of Transportation.

In South Kona, alternating single-lane closures will be in effect in both directions on Mamalahoa Highway (Highway 11) between mile markers 92 and 95 for landscaping and shoulder work, the department said. Work is scheduled 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Tuesday through Friday.

Farther south in Ka‘u, alternating single-lane closures will be in effect in both directions on Hawaii Belt Road (Highway 11) between mile markers 56 and 57, in the vicinity of Punaluu Black Sand Beach, for road repairs. Work is scheduled 7:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Tuesday through Friday.

Back up north in North Kohala, alternating single-lane closures will be in effect in both directions on Kohala Mountain Road (Highway 250) between mile markers 3 and 4, in the vicinity of Kapaau, for landscaping and shoulder work. Single-lane closures will also be in effect in both directions on Akoni Pule Highway (Highway 270) between mile markers 22 and 26 for landscaping and shoulder work. Work is scheduled 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Tuesday through Friday.

In East Hawaii, alternating single-lane closures will be in effect in both directions on Hawaii Belt Road (Highway 19) in the vicinity of mile marker 19.4 for road repairs in Ninole. Work is scheduled 8:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.

Alternating single-lane closures will be in effect in both directions on Hawaii Belt Road (Highway 19) in the area of mile marker 14.2 at Kolekole Bridge for bridge repairs in South Hilo. Work is scheduled 8 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Alternating single-lane closures will be in effect in both directions on Hawaii Belt Road (Highway 19) between mile markers 4 and 10 for road paving in South Hilo. Work is scheduled 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. Tuesday through Friday.

Alternating single-lane closures will be in effect in both directions on Hawaii Belt Road (Highway 19) in the area of mile marker 11.1 for road repairs in Pepeekeo. Work is scheduled 8:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.

Alternating single-lane closures will be in effect in both directions on Hawaii Belt Road (Highway 19) in the area of mile marker 3.6 for road repairs in Wainaku. Work is scheduled 8:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.

The department cautioned that lane closure schedules may change at any time without further notice. All projects are weather permitting.
