The Kailua Village Artists featured member artist for the month of February is stained glass artist Bill Jaeger.

Jaeger learned the art of stained glass many years ago, while also working full time and earning a BS degree in electrical engineering from Wichita State University and a MBA from the University of Kansas. It was not until he and his wife Kathleen moved to the Big Island in 2004 that he immersed himself in the art. Since then, he has developed a style and skill evident in every piece he makes.

This month Jaeger will be showing a new piece, “Kona Bamboo,” a piece which incorporates bevels and textured glass. He will also be showing pieces with creatures of the sea. Additionally, he will feature an unusual helicopter kaleidoscope. Fans of his work will be happy to see a full range of local favorites – nightlights, sun catchers, and smaller stained-glass panels as well.

To meet featured artist Bill Jaeger and see his latest work, come and talk story with him at the gallery on Sunday, Feb. 3 or Friday, Feb. 22. While working in the gallery, he will be demonstrating some stained-glass techniques used to create a panel, such as glass cutting and foiling.

Jaeger will also be representing the gallery at Kokua Kailua on Sunday, Feb. 17.

The Kailua Village Artists Gallery is located at 75-5729 Alii Drive, Suite C-110 in the Kona Marketplace (just north of Kakina Lane) in Kailua-Kona. The gallery is open daily from 9:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.
