Hazardous waste collection March 2

A household hazardous waste collection event for various hazardous household materials will be held from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. March 2 at the Waimea Recycling & Transfer Station.

Sponsored by County of Hawaii Department of Environmental Management, a complete list of acceptable and non-acceptable materials are on the website www.hawaiizerowaste.org/recycle/household-hazardous-waste.

Business, government agencies, nonprofit agencies or farm wastes are prohibited by law. No electronics or tires allowed.

Hawaii Writers Guild presents Writers’ Voices

The Hawaii Writers Guild will present its first authors reading of the new year on Wednesday, February 6 from 6-7:30 p.m. at the Thelma Parker Library, 67-1209 Mamalahoa Highway in Waimea.

Writers’ Voices is an evening of original readings by Guild members,

Readers at the February Writers’ Voices will include Guild members Amara Cudney and Bruce Stern from Waikoloa, Louise Riofrio from Waimea and Bob Lupo from Hakalau.

BNI open house in Waimea

Business Networking International (BNI) Waimea Professionals is hosting an open house.

On Tuesday, Feb. 19, the BNI Waimea Professionals Chapter will be hosting the gathering for local business owners, professionals and entrepreneurs. It runs from 8:30-10:30 a.m. There is a $10 charge for a light breakfast and coffee which can be paid by cash or check at the door, 67-1182 Lindsey Road Kamuela.
