New scholarships from AAUW Kona branch

Two $1,000 scholarships will be offered for the first time from AAUW Kona for women desiring to complete a two-year vocational or certificate program at Hawaii Community College, Palamanui campus, leading to a marketable skill.

These scholarships are available to high school graduates and also those women who may have been in the workplace or women who are returning to school for better employment opportunities. These scholarship applications may be obtained from high school counselors, a Palamanui counselor, and are also available on online at https://kona-hi.aauw.net. The Palamanui scholarship applications must be postmarked by April 10.

AAUW promotes equity for women and girls through advocacy, education, and research.

Alannah Hill named to dean’s list

Alannah Hill of Waikoloa was among those who earned dean’s list recognition at George Fox University in Oregon for the fall 2018 semester. Traditional undergraduate students must earn a 3.5 grade point average or above on 12 or more hours of graded work to earn a spot on the dean’s list.

George Fox University is ranked by Forbes among the top Christian universities in the country and is a Christian college classified by U.S. News &World Report as a “Best Regional University.”
