KAILUA-KONA — About 400 acres of land was scorched in a brush fire in Ka‘u, authorities confirmed Monday.

According to Hawaii Police, the blaze was reported at around 1:30 p.m. Sunday. The cause is still unknown.

The flames appeared to be “reasonably” contained, police said Monday. Officials added fire crews, bulldozed a fire break and water drops were made. As of Monday they were dealing with hot spots.
