Tatsuko Hayashikawa

Tatsuko Tsubota Hayashikawa, 94, of Hilo, died Jan, 20, 2019, in Hilo. She was born in Hilo in April 1924 and was a bank teller at First Hawaiian Bank and a member of the Puna Hongwanji Mission.

She is survived by her two sons, Cy Hayashikawa of Pahoa, Calvin Hayashikawa of Texas; and six grandchildren.

Theresa Rossi

Theresa Rossi, 57 of Keaau, died Jan. 29, 2019, at home. She was born on Jan. 19, 1962, in Ohio.

Private services will be held.

Theresa is survived by sons Miles Campbell Sr. of Hilo, Travis Campbell of Pahoa, Colin Campbell of Maui; brother John Rossi of Ohio; sister Antoinette “Toni” Dale of Illinois and one grandchild.

Erlina Salvador

Erlina “Lena” Linda Salvador, 62, of North Kohala, died Feb. 3, 2019, at her residence. Born April 14, 1956, in Honokaa, she was a homemaker.

Visitation will be from 8-9:45 a.m., Saturday, Feb. 23 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Hawi. Mass at 11 a.m. Luncheon to follow.

She is survived by husband, James Salvador of North Kohala; mother, Violet Bueno of Honokaa; daughters, Jamie (Kai) Chung, Ruby Nanalook all of Honolulu, Jayleen (Ikaika Reyes) Salvador of Maui; hanai sons, Robin Marquez of North Kohala, Bryson Marquez of Colorado, Wylan Marquez of Honolulu; hanai daughter, Amber Marquez of California; sisters, Ligaya (Lloyd) Leslie, Shirley (Buster) Serrao all of Honokaa, Rose (Jose) Sarmiento of Honolulu, Natalie (Manuel) Lemus of Florida; brothers, Oscar (Flora) Bueno of Honokaa, Clyde (Phyllis) Bueno, Clarence (Christine) Bueno all of Honolulu; two grandchildren, numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews.

Lolita Gebin

Lolita “Lita” Baruelo Gebin, 70, of Pahoa, died on Jan. 22, 2019, at home. Born on July 19, 1948, in Dagupan City, Pangasinan, Philippines, she was a retired floral farmer and a member of Pahoa Sacred Heart Catholic Church.

Visitation will be held from 9-10 a.m. Feb. 15 at Pahoa Sacred Heart Catholic Church; memorial Mass at 10 a.m. Casual attire is requested.

She is survived by daughter, Flordeliza (William Carrillo) Gebin of Colorado; son, Manuel Gebin, Jr. of Pahoa; brother, Jose “Joe” (Epifania “Epay”) Baruelo of Pahala; sister, Felomina Baruelo Obra of Binalonan, Pangasinan, Philippines; grandchildren, Alec Gebin of Florida and Joey Gebin of Florida; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

Janet Silva

Janet Gaynor Silva, 87, of Keaau, died Feb. 2, 2019, at home. Born on January 31, 1932, in Olaa, she worked at the Naniloa Hotel in the housekeeping department and she also was a member of the St. Joseph Catholic Church in Hilo.

Friends may call on Feb. 14 at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Hilo. Visitation is from 9-10 a.m.; celebration of Mass at 10:30 a.m. Casual attire is requested. Burial at East Hawaii Veterans Cemetery No. 2 at noon.

She is survived by sons, Jeffery (Rochelle) Silva and Bruce (Jennifer) Silva of Keaau, Mark (Davieanna Mercado) Silva of Mt. View; hanai daughters, Ashley Silva, Alyssa Silva and Kahealani Silva of Mt. View; brother, George (June) Rapoza of Oahu; sisters, Diolinda Ah Fong of Pepeekeo, Cecelia Fields and Elsie House of Mainland; sister in-law, Mae Louise Gomes of Kona; 13 grandchildren and 27 great-grandchildren; numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.

Diane Cox

Diane Cox, 65, of Pahoa, died Feb. 4, 2019, at the Hilo Medical Center. Born in Blue Island, Illinois, she was a retired salesperson and a member of the Pahoa Senior Citizens.

A celebration of her life will be held at a later date.

She is survived by husband, Jeff Cox of Pahoa; daughter, Jennifer (Julian Vasquez) Brewster of Sacramento, California; son-in-law, William Brewster of Sacramento, California; son, Jake Gibson of Hawaii; sister, Becky (Terry) Tankersley of Illinois; three grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews.

William Bates

William “Bill” Bates, 64, of Kailua-Kona, died Nov. 30, 2018, at Nakamaru Hale in Holualoa. Born Oct. 12, 1954, in Iowa, he was a retired computer specialist with the federal government in Washington, DC.

Private service were held.

He is survived by wife, Betty Rawsthorne of Kailua-Kona; sisters, Connie Perrin of Minnesota, Tori Twigg of Kentucky; brother, Robert Bates of Iowa; numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.
