KAILUA-KONA — One more wet day, perhaps.

While normally blistering Kona has been damp of late, scattered showers remain in the forecast for Kailua-Kona today with a 50 percent chance of rain although the outlook calls for likely drier days after that.

Less than a tenth of an inch of new rainfall is possible today and the chance of rain should drop to 40 percent by tonight, according to the National Weather Service.

As of 4 p.m. Tuesday, the NWS had recorded just over an inch of rainfall at the Ellison Onizuka Kona International Airport at Keahole.

Hawaii Island was under a flash flood watch throughout the day until 6 a.m. this morning as a band of moisture stuck around near the island overnight. It was expected to bring widespread light to moderate rain and a chance for heavy showers and thunderstorms.

A weather notice posted Tuesday afternoon by the NWS said most of the heavy rain was expected to move east of the island today.

Isolated showers are still a possibility Thursday to Friday night, however, with a 20 percent chance of precipitation.

But Saturday and Sunday are both expected to be mostly sunny and clear with a high close to 81 during the day and low of about 70 at night.
