Road restriping to cause delays in Kealakekua

KAILUA-KONA — Motorists should expect delays on Mamalahoa Highway in the area of the Konawaena schools in South Kona as Hawaii County Department of Public Works crews restripe the highway.

The work is taking place between Konawaena School and Onouli roads in Kealakekua. Work hours are from 8:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Tuesday through March 22, weather permitting. No work will take place on Wednesday, March 13 or weekends. The work was rescheduled from an earlier date due to equipment failure,

Alternating lane closures will be in effect. Travel will be allowed in both directions during the work. Off-duty police officers will be posted in the area to facilitate traffic movement.
