The Hawaii Island Police Department reopened Kawaihae Road near Ohina Street and mile marker 60 in Waimea due to a vehicle fire.

Police sent an email notification around 11:15 a.m. Wednesday advising motorists to avoid the area for at least the following two hours. It was reopened around noon.

The communication did not specify the cause of the blaze or if anyone sustained injuries as a result of the vehicle fire or its catalyst.
